A lot of things keep popping up with this truck that make it seem as though QA was poor...

The things popping up on this model as poor QA are simply improper faster torque at the assembly line. Things like wheel lugs, U-bolts, hanger bearing bolts, and diff bolts. All these need to be checked and torqued to proper spec.

Edit: All this is supposed to be done at service intervals, nothing to it, every vehicle needs it.

The Tranny is pretty meh (maybe can be tuned better) and that AC hose for example seem to be mediocre design as well

TW has separate treads for all items. My transmission has been nothing short of awesome once I let it go thru its learning and adjusting processes which can take about 1200k miles. No ATF adjustment or check, just let it learn & adjust.

And I'll just leave it at that, since this tread is about the diff recall.

Your assessment is spot on. There is a lot of hot air in here from some of the fanboys. You have to read between the lines. Some people refuse to see the truth for what it is.

Crap! Went in for an oil change, left in a Corolla (though the rental company is looking to get me another truck) because I supposedly have a leaky diff. Nothing on the driveway, though.

This isn't a list I wanted to be added to...

Had my service done yesterday along with the recall. When I dropped it off at orange Ca Toyota the service guy Patrick was great help and it only took two hours total, they were busy. No leaks, as I already knew. Would have kept my car and provided retail as I already new if it had leaks.

All and all, it's not the bolts that are the issue or gasket otherwise torqueing the bolts we already have would fix the issue for all of you that don't have trucks anymore. It's not.

They really have no clue what the issue is hence you guys having trucks on the lot sitting for over a month.

I was told that a cooperate mechanic has to come out for each specific case to tell the dealership tech what needs to be done. This isn't happening yet because they don't know.

Even though I got my truck back last night I have lost faith in it. I do not think it's fixed or any better then those who gave trucks at the dealerships now. We all have the same designed parts regardless of what model be have. We're talking about the same parts periods, not a different color or trim would change that.

I have a four month old that I will not take in my truck since this was released to the media or my wife.

Regardless when they find/solve the issue I want my truck parts swapped out for the new and improved correct not faulty parts. It was on the recall list. I want it change our even if it wasn't leaking.

I'm done with this truck and lost faith in the brand until they correct this for all tacomas made on this timeframe of the issue arising.

Something that just takes 5 minutes to resolve (loose fasteners) can be such a challenge to some tststs...
    What to do??

Well Toyota has kept my truck for 38 days and no recall repair time frame provided thus far, therefore I already filed a claim with the Consumer Affairs Office and I will rescind my auto loan and truck purchase contract, I need to get out of this contract since this recall issue is not working out for me , the way I see it the dealership should either swap my truck for a new one or cancel my purchase contract , waiting any longer is just not negotiable in mi opinion, honest feedback always welcome, anyone thinks I'm jumping the gun or being unreasonable ?

"Ok questions, does someone know if I can demand from the dealer to return my truck until they have a scheduled date to attend to my truck's recall repair ? also, Do I have the right to keep the rental truck and leave my truck at home while awaiting for recall repair,,,, I just went to the dealer yesterday and saw my truck sitting out at the dealer's outdoor lot. The truck has been there for 37 days, please provide advise.....[/QUOTE"

I just visited my Dealers lot Friday to pickup a few items from my recall Tacoma. Last time I was at the Dealer 12 recall Tacomas were sitting with mine there were 9 this time. When I asked him where the other 3 went he said the owners traded them in for Chevy Silverado's at the Chevy dealer. So looks to me we can take them anytime we want as long as someone takes responsibility for the repairs in this case it's Chevy..

Nothing is unreasonable if the current situation/agreement isn't working for you. One thing all of us recall folks have in common is a leaky differential. What we don't have in common is what our situation is and what we are willing to tolerate with this recall...do what's best for you...

Honestly it's time you settled down anyway. Get some pleated pants and really sink your teeth in that coming of age novel you've been meaning to write.

Last issue, based on the stated gripes and complaints of Toyota keeping my truck for 38 days DO I have a solid claim to request to cancel my purchase contract with the dealer, in other words, can dealership deny such request and be able to justify it ?,

looks OK to me but if you're on the recall list you need to take it in anyway...the problem may pop up when you least expect it
