I was stopped at a red light yesterday minding my own business when my eyes unconsciously drifted down to the two vehicles stopped to the left & right front of me.

On my left a fairly new Ford f-150 and on the right another but older Ford f-150 4X4, and as I looked, I saw a big wet spot (that was a leak, not a weep) going half way up the diff on the one to the right.
The one on the left was bone dry, and I just shook my head because of all the noise here about that, and wondered if the Ford driver on the right was even aware of this diff leak like we all are here.
Moral of the story, this place has a kind of effect you take with you! lolo!

I’m with everyone here having this issue and understand the anxiety that it's causing for some.
But believe me this is more common and simple fix than some here who like to instigate and stir the pot want you to believe.

Ok so here we go sorry but this is a hot topic if your truck is on the recall list, it has been 38 days without my truck tomorrow I plan to contact the dealership and request to cancel my purchase contract, I had enough my truck cost me 41,000 dollars it has 12090 miles I have not been able to enjoy it . My car loan purchase agreement with Toyota is not meeting my vehicle needs anymore, this recall situation has me fed up, totally disappointed, anyone think I don't have grounds to cancel my auto purchase contract with the dealership ?, please elaborate, thanks

Your contract is with TFS/TMCC and not the dealer; correct?

Truck purchase contract made with dealer and financed they a credit union ,,,I contacted the credit union and they said that the dealer needs to make a decision , I'm still following up with the Consumer Affairs filed complaint but I want to talk to the dealer because I want out of this contract, not satisfied with my current recall situation

You have three different entities you are dealing with; the Creditor, Seller and Vehicle Manufacturer. Guess which two have no responsibility to you as far as an operational vehicle.

Well, let's see what the seller tells me tomorrow !!! In my view he failed to deliver .....recall or no recall , you as a seller take my truck away for 38 days straight and to this date dealer can't give me a repair date , then is time to take action !

When he takes your vehicle away, he is acting as an agent of the vehicle manufacturer. Doesnt matter if you bought it there or not.
    Good luck, nonetheless.

So if that's the root cause, bolt tightening and new gaskets are just band-aids. It's going to leak sooner or later. Do I understand this correctly?

If the dealer is acting in good faith and reports repair of a part as successful, you can't demand a new part to be installed.

Not clear, depends on the amount of variation I'd say.

Their manufacturing variability is way too high then. In my field, that's a sign of rushing a product to market.

Or green and black belting it to death with a little sprinkling of kaizen thrown in for good measure until you cut so much you put out cheap ass warped up parts that you'll in the end pay more for than if you just make 'em right the first time. This is 2017 not 1917 for God's sake.

I'm not even sure there will be a redesigned one for the OR, seeing as it is a different diff than the one on the recall. I figure at worst it doesn't change anything, but it is better imo than leaving the one that is leaking. If it starts up again, that is also another case for them to do something more.

So the fix isn't at the dealers yet?

Reviewing the outer housing visually for a smudge of oil does not indicate that the original part inside is not flawed. Hell, we really do not know what part or parts the recall is truly for at this point especially if the dealer has no idea. When cooperate knows for sure what the true issue and fix is, I'll be headed back to the dealership for them to review and confirm mine is valid and ok, if not, it's getting changed out. How can the dealership at this point tell you if you pass or failed the recall completely if the true fix has not been released and members without a truck for over a month is currently happening.

Pretty sure Toyota issued the recall notice to "CYA" early.

    .

I wonder if the rear diff and gears are manufactured by Toyota or an outside supplier?
