antifreeze question

I asked the guy at kragens what antifreeze i need for my 08 taco and he looked at a chart which showed i was able to use yellow or orange, while i told him mine was pink he said that the prestone 50/50 would be fine. I bought it which is like 150K miles extended life or w/e ... bottle says it works for all makes / models / trucks everything and can be added to my current antifreeze. Should i be alright with this? Ive heard that some need special antifreeze but i wanted to check with taco world before pouring anything into my baby =]

 

I wouldn't mix anything with that Toyota Long Life Coolant. It's a low silicate and I think it's a different make up than the 50/50.

 

mmk well its at the low mark and i dont know how to drain it so how would i go about filling up my coolant level back to full?

 

Get a bottle of the Toyota stuff??

 

Never mix coolant.
The service manual mentions this. It is a standard practice.
If you don't know what is in the truck, dump what is there, flush with water and then put the Toyota extended life orange. You will be good for 5 years. Pink -> sounds like someone added green to factory orage.

 

Pink/Red is the Toyota "Long Life" coolant color....

 

sounds like someone doesnt know what color the toy ext life coolant is......green and orange just make a lighter orange color...

stick w/ the OEM stuff as others have stated....the PINK stuff...

 

Ok sounds good, I found on toyotas website they state that the pink is the shizz. do i need to buy it from a dealership?

 

thats the only place i know to get it...
