I'm in that shitty no man's land. I don't know if I could control my rage if I dropped $$ on fixing it myself then a TSB comes out.

It's almost worst for me because I have an 8 yr 125k warranty they gave me for my troubles. But I guess it's not worth a shit anyway if they won't acknowledge a problem, so maybe I should just pay for a fix?

If it bothers you THAT bad, yes, you essentially have 2 options.

    Sell the truck.
    Pay for a regear.

If you're being cheap or penny pinching, it seems it doesnt bother you enough to do something about it besides posting about it on TW how its such a "pos"

are u looking up just the gears or the master install kit? if ur having diff issues go for a master install regear kit which is going to cost u about 1400 in parts. Make sure you're looking at the 8.75" regear kit too as only the automatic non E-lockers have the old 8.4" axle.

I guess different spot. I know if I get it I'll just be paying since even if they issue a TSB I'll be void so they likely won't do it for me.
I mean I'll obviously try contacting corporate about it. But doubt that will go anywhere.

Besides if a TSB is issued and I don't get it, I'll know the fix and if the dealer doesn't want to give me a reasonable price on doing it, I'll just bring my business elsewhere. I have zero loyalty towards any dealer as to me they are all a bunch of leaches, ticks or some other parasitic piece of shit.

Yes. Not as loud as at 55mph and no load but definitely there. Motor/exhaust noise covers most of it.

I'm in line for a new rear diff. Supposed to get a call when they can source a new gasket... which are in high demand apparently. They diagnosed it as a bad pinion bearing.

I'm not expecting a whole lot with the new diff. But maybe they fixed the problem :fingerscrossed:

Another question. How's the shiftsense treating you OP? I'm in the fence.

Also if your going to drop the money. Regear!

Even if your truck is stock, go 4.30. This truck would be great with those gears.

If your lifted/big tires 4.88 would be cool too. With the super tall overdrives I don't think that'd be to low even with 33"s.

I haven't decided if I'll regear eventually I feel 4.88 is too much over stock. Besides it might give you great torque etc but your crawl speed will be higher. And to me crawl speed is more important when it comes to hill decent

    How's that?

    Lower gears are slower right?

More engine turn over vs tire rotations is how I think of it.

Service depts fix vehicles as quickly as possible, and send the defective parts back to Toyota for further analysis. The actual causes are probably kept confidential.

The shiftsense is the step forward i mentioned earlier. It's amazing. They only problem I have left is the diff howl. It's the worst problem and most annoying of them all... And I guess now it's getting worse. Bleh

I wouldn't hesitate on the shift sense. It finally makes the truck shift properly. The TSBs worked well for me and I hesitated on whether or not I needed it. It's been fantastic so far.

Yeah howling diff has been my only major complaint.

I think I might pull the trigger on the shiftsense. I live in a hilly area and the shifting can get excessive. I usually just do the S mode shifting manually.

    Thanks.

You can find how to do the conversion all over the web and plenty of videos on YouTube.

From my understanding when you increase you want to get closer to factory ratio. 4.88 is higher than factory ratio of gearbox etc.

From my understanding going over could cause faster crawl. I could be wrong though. But if the gears are helping in accelerate better than stock seems they'll gain speed faster.

I would just like to increase my quietness and decrease my howlness over factory.
