Correct Tool Box Size?

I am in the market for a new toolbox for my 2nd Gen. Tacoma Ex. cab 4x4. Can anyone recommend the best fitting style and size? 60" 61 1/2"? Slim design or deep design?

 

I had a black low profile UWS tool box in my 05 Extended cab. 63x22x15.5 They sell on Amazon new for about $400. Sold mine used for $200. Great tool box!

 

I also have the UWS Model TBS-63-A (http://www.uwsta.com/p/63-single-lid-angled-crossover), but mine is silver and not the low profile version. My toolbox blocks a good bit of my rear view. I'd recommend the low profile version. I believe this is a 63" toolbox (see dimensions in link), instead of 65".

Make sure the toolbox you buy is the "wedge cut" type or your wheel wells will interfere.

 

I believe you're right that the width is 63". I took the specs off of Amazon which were incorrect.

 

2007 tacoma, I have a BetterBuilt tool box,
61 inch width, slimline, the 61 inch fits perfectly, doesnt hang over edges. It is not real wide though, but holds enough. Got a used one that is like new, from Amazon, half price.

 

56"x20"x10"

 

I got this puppy and it kicks ass. Easy to remove if you need the temporary bed space and since I don't carry axes, pressure washers, rocket launchers, or any other oversize item that everyone seems to cram in there it works perfect for me.

I have the low profile one from Lowe’s.
It says Kobalt. But I believe some one else makes it for a them.
At least the number on the stick under the lid is to a different company.
Had it 11 years. So far so good.

 

I have been looking at them also. Is the plastic rugged enough?

 

Has been for me. Going on 6+ years now and the only thing weathered is the waterproof stripping on the inside of the lid and rust on the hinges/swing points. The lid really doesn't even need the stripping the way it's shaped as water would never get inside unless your bed flooded. The rust is what it is, I throw in some WD40 from time to time to keep everything loose.

Honestly though, it's a dream how easy it is to remove this thing in the instance you need that extra space or you're loading up your bed with mulch. For this reason alone it was worth my [at the time] $160.

 

How is that mounted?!

 

Three bolts thru the back panel into t-nuts in the tie down rail with a high density foam camper taper to seal the holes and the same tape used between the box and the inner fender wells. At the time of photos box was just sitting there, had not mounted yet.

 

I really like the inside-the-rail look, sitting on the resin. But I cannot find that type listed on ProTech.
Any idea of what model it is?
Need one for 2017 Taco Off Road with 5' length deck. Most of what I see are v-shaped floor mounts
Any assistance appreciated.

 

If you zoom in or enlarge the second photo you will see the number they gave it. This box is custom or semi-custom. On their website you used to be able to find a section with boxes labeled as RV boxes but I don't see it anymore. The box I had them adjust was 60"w 20" deep and 10" tall and they changed the width from the 60" to 56". I would call them and go from there. I ordered it thru a dealer in Auburn, Wa. who claimed to be the largest dealer (in volume) of Pro-Tech. This shop primary customer is truckers.

 

Tried that code on the inside of the lid. That's why I said I couldn't find it. Anyway, I'm in Vancouver, BC, so US prices are brutal when converted to CDN$ (73 cents). It's like we're a 3rd world country at that exchange rate.

 

Hear is one basically what I had modified. ProTech Aluminum Low Profile RV Box - Buffed Aluminum Lid | Pro-Tech Industries 54-8476 | Inbed Tool Box | West Coast Off Road and I agree prices have gone up and buying with the Canadian dollar would suck. There are a few dealers out in the Burnaby and Surrey area.
