Im surprised some think its a bad price if it truly is a 90,000 mile vehicle with no frame rust. I'd negotiate it down, but anything around 7500 would be a good price in california, $8900 may be a tad high but people always list higher expecting to be negotiated down. It does look inadvertent to me.

yeah, price seems steep. $9k for a 20 year old truck... If you can knock him down a grand, you'd probably be better off.

Does it have service records? Either way, it would be a good idea to start a plan for getting all the maintenance up to date. Fluids, filters, ball joints, steering, plugs/wires, MAF, O2 sensors, etc...

There's a long list of stuff to potentially change, but you don't need to go nuts and do it all at once especially with this low of mileage. Go over it with a fine tooth comb, or even have a trusted mechanic go over it (totally worth the $100 or whatever). Then start your list based on what is the most worn out, and the cheap/easy fixes you can do yourself.

These are good trucks, and at that low mileage it'll last forever.

You guys would lose your shit if you saw the asking price of a truck like this in my area. This is a 14-15k starting price in my area.

Yeah I was going to say, that isn't a bad price at all, and you can probably talk him down to 8k.
Timing belt needs to be done due to age, but it's not a deal breaker. New belts have a 100k maintenance interval.

I plan to move forward with this, if the truck is still available Wed/Thurs. Gonna get a mechanic appointment to run through a pre-purchase inspection. We'll see how it goes.

If it's still there, grab it. Be ready to fix a few things, maybe clean the throttle body, tune up amd replace the suspension. That and the normal breakage that comes with a 20 year old truck, you will be happy.

Looks like a decent deal, could prob get him down a little. Mileage is prob right, should be able to tell from pedal wear, seat, etc,

Just bought my 98 for 5k, but with 250K, v6 auto, very clean. should be good for at least another 100-200k.

If it's a clean, solid truck go for it, you'll prob have it for another 10 yrs, no biggie if you pay a little high.

I believe it's supposed to be changed every 90k. I'm at 150k and haven't swapped it so they definitely give you time if you're lucky.

Well, I just ran into a dilemma. Today a 2004 4x4 V6 TRD Off Road was posted, for $500 fewer ($8200). It has 90,000 more miles on it, but it has the grille that I like so much and -being 7 years older- the inside is more upgraded.

Which do you think would be better?

After going with 01-04 after having a 98-00, I'd never go back. The seats are so much more comfortable. I'd say go for it if it's good all around. Still try to talk him down as much as you can though cause it is a little high for 180k.

IMHO price is good if no rust issues on frame and good records then 2004 , however Xcab going to be ok with you ? I used to have XCAB but got sold and then I got double cab since need to travel with more than 1 family member for long trips.

Yeah, it'll serve for what I need it for. My daughter and a few of her friends to tote around. I like the smaller back, because people are less forward to want to ride with me. ;)

    Too few to list.
Not too good to be true. Low mileage 1st gens exists but with a higher price tag. I sold my 1995 single cab v6 4x4 for $8k and had 120K. This was about a year ago.
