Gas grills on sale at Lowes

Looking to get a new grill, going with gas, does anyone have any helpful hints, I.E. brands, size, BTU's, etc ?

 

I bought one from Costco last summer. The brand is Tuscany and I love it. It cost $399.00 but it cooks nice and even. Make sure whatever you have you get the infa red burner, kinda works like charcoal to sear the outside of meat. Anyway, I think either Sams Club or Costco have the best prices and quality.

 

Thanks for the info on the infered burner, I am not much of an outdoor grill cook, but am trying to change that. I cooked steaks last night and the wife said I did a nice job.

 

Sears also has a great selection to choose from as well!

 

Definitely recommend the Weber brand. You get what you pay for, I made the mistake of buying a few "good deal" gas grills & when they start falling apart after a year or two it costs more to repair than replace. Am VERY happy with the Weber that I bought a few months back.

X2 We have a Weber Silver series. It's a small one (only the hubby & I).

I don't even know how long I've had this one - perhaps 5 years now. I did replace the 'flavorizer' bars this springs. They got rusty. Everything else is top knotch and I've been keeping this thing sprayed out and cleaned every year. The good thing about Webers is you can get 'weber' replacement parts, which are good quality stuff. The cooking rack on the webers are nice thick & heavy - you know they ain't gonna rust.

I've had cheapo discount store stuff before and they did a good job for a long time. I got tired of replacing the racks, heater unit, and the ignitors never last very long. The replacement parts you get are even cheaper in qaulity than the original stuff and sometimes *hoaky* to put together.

We bought our Weber at Lowes.

 

I love charcoal- I've been lookin for a lighting chimney insted of using fluid. I've got a lil camp propane that I use if I'm in a rush.

 

I bought a Charmglow from the Depot last year. We've used the snot out of it this year. It seems to do an excellent job on everything we've cooked. It's completely stainless steel, which is what I wanted, and cost us about 125.00, retailed for 499.00. We bought it in January.

The hell? A 9 year bump?

Relevant to my...well...my wife's interests.

She wants me to get a little gas grill for the back patio. I cook on a 22" Weber and my own version of UDS smokers. For me, that isn't changing. She wants to go cook up chicken breasts, asparagus, and other little items on nights of the week that she cooks. Frankly, that doesn't bother me at all. We have the space and she has the want.

Since it'll get used so infrequently, it won't be a spendy grill. Likely a small two or three burner.

 

These little doohickys are great, very portable, even heat, table top, etc. My gf found one on side of road with other free stuff from a neighbor, brought it home. I cleaned it up and use it very rarely, but it's very quick for little things like you describe. $100 from HD...

 

Does that run on the little camping propane bottles? I have a few of those laying around.

That is a really good idea. I'm looking to possibly build a little tabletop with inserts for the drums and some prep space. I could extend one side enough to accommodate something like that, too.

Oh where to begin...

The cheap grills, under $1000, that claim infrared are really just a regular tube burner with a special grate over it. They are not real infrared. If you want something that will last stay away from anything with a stamped steel firebox. Cast aluminum is the way to go and any steel needs to have an enamel finish.

My personal preference is Weber, I have had the same gas Weber genesis for at least ten years and a charcoal Weber for around 4 years. The charcoal grill is great for anything from burgers to smoking a pork shoulder. If I were to choose one today though the Weber Q may be the best gas grill for the money.

 

Mine already had a quick connect for 5 gal tank. I *think* they don't run with enough gas volume with the small tanks, never tried it though.

I use a weed burner to start my charcoal and have extra big tanks for it and the turkey fryer, so I can use a regular tank if need be.

Those little ones are crap for what I wanted them for. Trying to find a use for the other two.

 

Those things are good for a couple camp meals on a Coleman, that's about it.
