    Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
    Just got down to the parts store and pick up a bag of universal sizes, no need to be picky unless you absolutely have to have OEM everything, including body rivets! Haha

    Not at all. But having the OEM part number makes it easy to identify the third party equivalent that is available on Amazon for a fraction of the cost.

    Case in point is a similar fastener for my Accord, which was $3.29 each from the dealer, or $2.79 for FORTY on Amazon. I needed seven. They worked great and saved me a bundle, plus I have spares should I need to break them again (I mean remove them again).

    I'd prefer to only get the size I need, especially for something that I will likely break each time I do an oil change. :D

    Do you have the factory wannabe skid plate/pan or a real skid plate?

    I have the former. I drop it, drain all the oil and then jam a large sacrificial towel underneath where the oil filter is. I do get a little bit of oil on the differential and the immediate vicinity but not much.

    If you have a real skid plate I could see where dropping it would not be a good option.

    No, I got ya. I'm just saying that with the factory pan, IMHO, it's not worth the expense & risk of relocating the filter because dropping the pan is no big deal and makes for an easy job.

    Good instructions. Other notes to add to original post:
    -- Oil drain plug gasket part no.
    $9 90430-12031 Genuine Toyota - Oil Drain Plug Gaskets (QTY10)
    90430-12031.
    -- Instead of pliers for the push-pins, trim/panel removal levers are better.
    -- You can hang an open plastic grocery bag under the oil filter so when you twist off the filter, oil drips into the bag -- no/minimal mess.

    I removed th skids and was not bad to access the filter, mimimum spill, the hard thing was the oild drain screw, i guess the waltmart guys overthigth that thing with power wrech... got to apply woolwax and 3 minutes later got able to get it lose, i also light clean the battery terminals and lube them with woolwax.

    Ive had multiple tacomas with the 3.4 engine and done countless oil changes plus other maintenance. Has anyone ever seen 2 oil filters before? Ive never seen this on a 3.4 Tacoma before, thoughts?
