Manual transmission Fan Club and BS thread (All Generations Welcome)

That is wicked good news if true. I've been in twice for it and both times was "could not reproduce differently than vehicles on lot".

 

My clutch makes a strange sound sometimes when slipping it in 1st gear. It is more of a vibration sound than a rattle.

Anyone have access to look up TSBs?

 

Unclaimed MGM SR 4x4 Manual at Toyota Santa Cruz. I really like my Barcelona now, but I would of traveled to pick up an MGM.

 

I'm sure this question has been brought up but I'm not going read all the posts about manuals. Maybe you all can help me make a choice I'm considering trading for a manual trans truck but it seems they are having problems too. So I'm not sure what to do. I have always liked a manual but because I sold my 91 4Runner so fast I did not have a ride and I got a automatic. Manuals are rare but I'm willing to order one and wait. I have a 2017 TRD Sport dcsb 4x4 now. Funny thing is I still catch myself reaching down to change gears after driving this thing 2k miles.

what issues have you concerned? the diff thing? the motor's torque complaints? QC issues? the MT's don't have any unusual amount of problems (like the AT's appear to)... I'd say in the MT's it looks like any make, normal issues here and there. I'm at 10k and my truck has been literally perfect so far. I'm not sure that's representing all 3rd gen trucks but it's not weird in MT land.

 

Dude, you should be getting commissions.

 

Just some things like clutch,getting hung in gear and some shift smoother than others. Little things like that. I did get to drive one and I liked it the shifting is a little tricky but I will get used to that quickly. My wife was able to mash the clutch in further enough ( shes 4'10") if she moves the seat all the way forward.

 

Hahaha, yeah, today was my sixth time there trying to get my spray nozzles fixed. Everytime I'm there I scour the lot manuals

 

That reminds me of the 91 4runner I sold to get my tacoma. The firewall and pedal cluster was out of wack and was not able to contact the clutch button so I had to use the clutch cancel button to start it. I had to do it that way several years. Fun part about it nobody knew how to crank it lol.

 

Great idea....Add the MT and you have a DUAL security system !

This has probably been answered somewhere in the 256 pages of threads, but what does everyone get for MPG with the 2nd gen V6 6SPD? I seem to get 17MPG no matter how I drive or if the truck is loaded or not. The best I've gotten is 19MPG on a road trip with a lot of 55 MPH driving.

 

My overall average on mine since day 1 has been right at 20 MPGs. My driving consists of mostly old rural hilly roads, then City, and finally short highway drives

 

I get 16-20. That's with almost full armor a slight lift and 265 75s. Speed is what kills mileage. I get 20 at 55 to 65. It drops like a rock above 65 most my 75 mph trips averaging 16.5 or so.

 

And I have a bed rack and RTT. Really my mileage is pretty good considering the added weight. No real complaints on the mileage besides I wish they had made 6th gear a little taller for better Mpg at 75.

 

Ive been averaging 18-19 in the tx hill country. Lately, it's been getting better mileage than my 4 cylinder lol

 

3rd Gen here so apples/oranges perhaps but I'm looking at 25.3 MPG yesterday on a 100 mile trip

 

How fast were you traveling? also, do you know if they made the overdrive (6th gear) any taller in the 2016+ trucks?

 

That's 90% highway at 65 mph... Not sure of the at/mt differences, but someone here would know or 2nd to 3Rd Gen differences either
