Bilstein 6112

Ok so I installed my 6112 / 5160 set up today. LR upper control arms. 6112's are on 5th notch. I'm sitting 4 inches higher in the front and it should be 2.46 according to spec chart. I've driven about 50 miles on the back roads and see maybe 1/8 th of settle. center of hub to fender on the front measures 23 3/4 - 24. any one else having this problem and how much can i really expect these to settle? Any help or advice would be most appreciated! At this point I'd really like to be around 3 not 4 in the front. BTW I have an 08 4x4 DC SB

I double checked everything. Part numbers, assembly etc. My truck is an 08. After consulting with alot of people and doing some research this is my conclusion. When lifting an older truck you have to take into consideration the OE parts your replacing have some sag and wear to them. When replacing the complete coil over assembly it will lift the truck 2 1/2 inches from the ORIGINAL ride height. That said I couldnt be happier with the look and the ride is UNMATCHED.

 

You could be right but 1.5" of sag/wear in front would be very unusual. Rear maybe. What are your actual measurements (hub to fender or ground to fender)?

 

LF and RF are 23 1/2 right now. center of hub to fender

 

That sounds about right for 5th notch.

 

is the 5th notch the top notch? How do you think they ride set that high?

I had mine installed and set the the 2nd notch as i am on a 2016 TRD Sport with only an inch in the back - but i'm still raked further forward than i would like and am going to adjust them a bit higher.

 

Mine are on 2nd notch as well, but Gen 2 + TSB rear springs. Got ~1.5" in front (w/ 1/4" spacer DS). Sits perfectly level now, maybe tiny bit lower in front on ds depending on surface it's parked on. Like 1/8" hard to even measure accurately. Didn't really settle much at all, around 1000 miles so far. Love the ride & look.

 

yes top notch is the 5th. They ride very well...no comparison to the OE. at this point my front is 3/8's higher than the rear. While I'm not crazy about that because I prefer level or front slightly lower than rear, for the time being I'm going to ride it. In the near future I plan on bringing the rear up at least 1/2 an inch but wheels and tires first. I'll post a pic shortly

 

Good to hear - ive been cruising mine for about 5k miles now and its settled a bit. I am also running gen 2 6112s on the gen 3 which sits 1" higher from the factory, so i figure i'll have to adjust them up to the forth notch to really get level with one inch in the back. I can say i have hit the beach at about 50 with them ( i have icons with resi in the rear) and they soak up the ruts far better than i expected!

Unfortunately my shop just alerted me that they wont have time this afternoon - and who knows the next time i'll have any spare time between 9 and 5 Monday through Friday - awesome guys but opening an hour earlier or maybe a half day on saturday would be huge! None the less, no adjustments today -_-

 

Seriously if you can turn a wrench you can adjust these yourself in no time and save yourself the labor. I'd never done a single minute's worth of suspension work before I installed mine, was nervous as hell, and still did the install flawlessly. Been banging around on my 6112's for almost a year now with no issues. If I were you, I'd get your truck back from the garage and adjust them yourself this weekend.

To each their own, though. If you'd rather not fool with it, that's an acceptable reason not to. Just don't be overly intimidated. A YouTube video and a few hours is all you need.

 

Yeah they are actually already on there - the issue is where i live now i dont even have a driveway that i can work in much less all my tools. They only want 150 to adjust the clip setting and a fresh alignment - figure thats probably worth my time haha

 

Gotcha, yeah I realized you already had them on there after I posted that.

$150 isn't a bad price at all. Around here a good alignment is $80 which leaves $70 for labor. For $150 I'd probably let someone else do it too!

 

Had my suspension installed today. 6112s w/ Eibach 650# springs, JBA UCAs, OME Dakar full leaf pack w/

$81 d29xl leaf spring

d29xl aal and Bilsten 5100 B110 shocks.

Where to start....With the rear set up above the ass end of the truck is quite high (almost too high). I have a SnugTop Rebel cap and a sleeping platform in the bed all the time but I did the aal because I will have a rear bumper, tire swing out and fuel swing out in a month and then next year the cap goes for a bed rack, RTT, fridge and gear. I will measure and take pictures later this week.

Installed the 6112s and 650# Springs on the 4th notch- HOLY MOTHER OF it is high (not almost as above, but actually too high). I did not get solid before measurements but I'm looking at just under 4" of lift in the front. I know the 650# springs are stiffer than the 600# ones that come with the 6112 kit but DAMN it's almost like they're installed incorrectly. I put the 650# springs in because I'm doing a CBI aluminum bumper, winch, aluminum skids and slider right away and wanted to compensate for the extra weight. I should have gone with my gut and put them on the 3rd not but because it's so high I may need to drop it to the 2nd notch. I have no idea why it's so high and I'll be addressing that this week.

 

So mine on the 4th notch with the provided spring sat high initially took some bouncing on it and a quick ride to get it to settle down. The 3rd notch would have probably been ok with your current setup. But when are you planning to add the bumper and skids? If like within a month or so I would say leave it at the current setting install the additional armor/weight and then see where it sits. Since that will be your final setup and it will also give the suspension time to settle it might end up where you want it. If not then you only have to screw with the suspension once to set it

 

I know it'll settle but it's super high right now (almost 4" of lift) and I don't want to wreck anything in the front end. Bumper and winch will be this time next month.

 

Any clunking or weird noises while driving? I floated around 3-1/4" of lift, but I also think my stock stuff was starting to sag a bit. If you can grab a center hub to fender measurement and I'll get an updated one of mine see how they compare. I was about 23-1/2" hub to fender after the install
