Anyone upgrade their horn?

I guess you could but if I'm slamming my brakes on I'm looking in my mirrors to make sure I'm not getting hit from behind and looking for outs, not worried about the horn so much and letting them know they fucked up as much as I'm worried about covering my ass. Now if I so happen to pull up next to them later on I will stare them fuckers down just so I can see a real dumb fuck and let them know.

 

I don't even care about letting them know they fucked up by using the horn. It's just a another thing done to try and avoid an accident. If my hard breaking and their slight correction due to my honking avoids the accident then it is a win in my book. They will know they fucked up if they stop and then they get an earful for being an idiot lol.

 

Like I said I pay more attention to my surroundings. If that fucker in front isn't paying attention and you have th brake what makes you trust the person behind you to be paying attention. I brake, watch my mirrors and look for ways out if I'm going to get hit from behind. I don't give the horn a thought, to each his own though. I come from a long history of riding motorcycles and that's how you ride to stay alive.

 

Oh I watch the surroundings too, my trust for the guy behind me comes in the form of a replacement rear bumper lol. . I get what you are saying though too, if time is of the essence and cannot get the horn in, it would be the first thing to leave out for sure.

I bet the motorcycle background does make a huge difference. When on a bike you can only look for ways out, fucked otherwise.

 

I did away with horns altogether and just use a plain Doppler effect...

If you watch the road way ahead of you you can pretty much see the cars that are going to be a problem. If you just want a horn to be cool that's fine but if you need one to honk at people all the time then maybe you should pay attention. Kind of like if everywhere you go there's an asshole, it just might be you.

I actually prefer the quick burst style from that Whelen. Yeah.. Train horns overall higher dB..but the tone and delivery of those is legit.

 

Ya, Ive never not had enough time to react, I mainly use the horn to punish bad behavior, people then don't want to make eye contact and hopefully associate their shitty driving with a negative experience
