Willing to bet your finish doesn't look all that perfect if you don't clay. Black shows every flaw. Some people just don't "see" it or care.

Trying to figure out if the above damage was by hand or machine. Looks like it was by hand but my god.

Yeah it does have micro scratches in the paint. I think I may be able to stand it till November of 2018 then I'll either get it Line-X'ed or trade it off for a different color.

Picked one up recently (the red/blue medium and fine pack sponges) and have been wanting to use it. Ive washed the truck a couple times a month and about a month ago put Hydro2 on it. Do you think that the nanoskin or even clay would remove that coating? Should I wait for the Hydro2 to fade away first? Wasn't sure if the "coating" has trapped the stuff that you use this or clay to remove.

Know very little about 'coatings'. I do know clay/nanoskin will remove all 'normal' waxes/dressings.

I never used let alone heard of a clay bar back in the 70's when I use to wax cars/trucks and I'm not about to start using clay now. :)

I had no use for Line-X in the 70's, I was still riding a bicycle.

I'll bet if you look at it at the right angle, you'll see the marks. I used compound on my door this past weekend, and everything looked smooth as glass. It wasn't until I walked around the back of the truck and saw it at an angle that I could see the whole area I did looked like the picture in the quote below!

That looks like it was done by hand. Owners probably washed it with a cheap "car wash" sponge and called it good.

Yes you are right, it does have micro scratches in the paint but nothing like the picture the guy posted above. I can live with it for now and when it starts to bother me I'll either trade it off or get it Line-X'ed.

It does look by hand but almost looks like its from a wax application. Lots of swirling.

:rofl:Mine too brother. She used to wash her own car before I came along. I'm a detail freak so she has enjoyed the last 5 years of not having to do it herself. I've let hers go for over a month before testing the waters to see if she would cave and do it.....nope. Never happened lol. And it was filthy.

mine too... I just had to wash all the window paint off our windows and she also hadn't washed her car in months and was curious as to why I was washing it. it also surprised her that her 4 runner was white when she came back out lol. it was a nice road grime grey when I started. also, the roof was mostly mildew and mold. wish I would have gotten a picture of that. she needs a clay bar and a wax badly right now.

Even in high school, she never washed her SUV. Either her dad would get fed up and just take through the autowash, or I'd get frustrated with not seeing out the windows and I'd detail it. I still love the look of shock and awe she gets every time when it looks showroom perfect.

I've almost given up on it, but I do use her car (instead of my truck) as a guinea pig when I'm trying out new detailing products, so that's a win for me :D
