If they want to park close, you have to be really early and expect to pay a premium. Just check Google Maps for close parking garages and lots. I usually park at Simmons College and walk over. It's about a 10 minute walk. The garage is off Avenue Louis Pasteur, parking is cheap and easy to get to.

 

Reading

 

I usually park at a commuter rail and ride that in. Worst case if you miss the last train Uber back to the commuter rail station.

Alewife T station is actually pretty convenient. If we're not dropping off the giblets at the in-laws in reading and taking the commuter rail from there we almost always park at alewife and ride the red line in. Parking is like $5, and it's easy to get pretty much anywhere from there.

 

Wellington

 

Anyone else running the Spartan Sprint this weekend? Doing the trifecta this year so it'll be warm up race so to speak. Wife is also doing it( along with a big group of friends). She calls it the spitein race as she's doing it to spite me so she can say she's done one.

All in all should be a good weekend. MIL is picking the giblets up from Daycare Friday and taking them to their Maine place so we're kid free Friday and Saturday.

Really any of the outlying t/ commuter rail stops are the best place imo

 

It's been quite a while since we've been kidless for more than an hour or two, so it'll be nice.

 

I know exactly what you mean... it's tough. Make sure you guys enjoy the kid free time.

 

Not doing this one. I am hoping after the Tough Mudder in 2 weeks it will motivate me to do these more. I want to do the Tough Mudder in NH in August but the Fiance says it is 'too close to the wedding in case I get injured'.

 

Where are you doing it?

Honestly the chances of getting injured at tough mudder are pretty low in my experience. The obstacles aren't that challenging or dangerous compared to some of the Spartan ones. The thing you'll see most there is heat/hydration related injuries. Other wise the difficult part is just the distance and the fact it's literally up and down the mountain all day.

 

Yeah I'm not concerned about it. But try telling that to a soon-to-be-bride. Not worth the argument haha - I'll do it next year.

Plus, I told her in a worst case scenario if I were to break something, I'd be in a cast either way for the wedding.

 

I've never gone after bass in that lake, actually. Probably should have, but when I'm fishing for breakfast I really prefer trout.

 

Yeah I don't eat bass at all even when they are legal. I'm suprised you did well on the togue, it's classified as a warm water fishery as it's avg. depth is 10'. I'm all set up for warmwater species but now you got me thinking I need to bring some coldwater gear too!

 

This was memorial day weekend, if I remember right, so the lake wouldn't have warmed up too much yet (I remember that the swimming was pretty brisk). But yeah, I caught one or two every day that we were there, and we stayed for 4 days. And they were tasty! Nothing like fresh fish with some cornmeal in a cast iron pan for breakfast when you're camping!


Edit- Now that I think about it, I actually didn't know that Umbagog had bass at all. Were they introduced illegally, or are they something that's being stocked now?

Yeah... at work we do a "walk away from your desk" for 15 minutes. One at 10 and one at 2.

The one at 10 was rough... interesting to see if anyone will go out at 2 or not.
