It's a German company... There's a bunch of different releases. The user interface is different for each and isn't the easiest to understand. The bigger problem is that the 'mother ship' uses the data to chart how the plant is doing. Last thing we need is a boarding party to 'help'.

I have seen some of this type of shit it is amazing how much it DOESN"T TELL YOU lol and unless you know where to drill down in the prog menu's to get it to tell you you're screwed lol And usually @vssman correct me if I am wrong they do not use a naming convention that is standard in the industry they use some scheme that engineers understand but not the general user lol

BTDT! Was in QA when our company got SAP'd. Aggravating system. I dealt with QDRs/8Ds for automotive OEMs. Don't miss that a bit.

Yes, it's not intuitive at all - we had to reconfigure our part numbers to fit the system...

Ahh, 8D's. That was the training. How to enter that straight forward form into the QIM module on SAP. So with the delay on the web class, I probably absorbed 20% of the info. The instructor was clicking all over the place and we are left figuring out what click did what...

I started 'the wall of quotes' which I've heard in these meetings. There's a few good ones.

The second to the last one was by an operator that built 3 trays (75 total) bad pieces. Now the stuff I make is not cheap at all - each is in the 4 to 5 figure range. So, the operator was asked what happened - why didn't she follow the written documented build sheet. And that's what she told the floor supervisor.

I had to like that one LOL. Reminds me doing ISO audits and asking shop floor people what do you do when you can't find your instructions or they are on line and the system goes down. And they reach behind something and pull out an old notebook and say we do it the way we used to.

SAP R3 and R4 it used to be on mainframe. Then moved to Nix and Oracle as an option. Hell probably it is even on windows servers now. The database used to be written in German. No touchie any fields without approval from the fatherland. Would piss them off on purpose by saying it sap like tree sap instead of S A P. Just because.

    My favorite

"The software works, it just won't give you the results you wanted"

Like when my kid was small and told us "I'm not mad, I'm just really, really angry"
