Not harder to burn, harder to detonate under pressure. That's why high compression engines, such as the ones in BMW call for higher octane gas. The higher the octane the less pre detonation.

I feel like the arguement of higher octane gas for better mileage is a moot point. Price is 25% higher from 87-92 octane. My 22.4 mpg would have to rise to 28 mpg to be worth it and that ain't gonna happen.

I was looking at the ZR2 Diesel before I bought mine and it was advertised at the time to get approx. 2-4 better mpg and I saw a stat that said with the price of diesel and the mpg difference that you would save about $50 a year with a diesel. Premium around here is about the same as diesel.

I'm mostly just sad that nobody pointed out how self-defeating of an argument it is to call something you support a "Schrodinger's cat"...

Fun fact, that hug wasn't planned in the script. Ralph Fiennes did it on the spot making Tom Felton very uncomfortable during this shot.

This! Toyota engineers have to scrape every last MPG after taking drastic measures to lower emissions to meet standards. I'm sure if that intake would give them 2 to 3 MPGS, their cost would be a few bucks to put this on at the factory. They are making bank on selling these to the purists that want "upgrades" from the OEM space. I appreciate the Op's attempt to share news that may help others, but I believe the shuttle driver is just repeating what others with buyers remorse have shared with him to regain confidence in their decisions.
