That's quite a trip planned. How much of this is "off road"? Or is mostly just road pavement throughout?

    I'm jealous

Mostly pavement in order to cover enough ground, but we'll be camping a lot and doing some backpacking along the way as well.

Near stop #26 I'd suggest going south in Idaho through Driggs seeing the Tetons from the west. Then take Teton Pass from Victor, ID to Jackson, WY. Then head north checking out the Tetons from the more popular east side and cruise up into Yellowstone from the south entrance. Continuing on thru the Beartooth Pass to Red Lodge as another person suggested.

Having just been there myself I feel it's totally worth seeing the Tetons if you're getting that close.

Have fun! Great way to spend a month off in summer.

If you are gonna be in CO for a day, throw down on some whitewater rafting! In Estes Park on Stop 8, make sure to drive through Rocky Mountain National Park.

Also, you're really missing out by passing up Portland OR. Go west right out of Portland, and don't forget to stop at the Tillamook cheese factory/Rogue Brewery in Newport OR.

Sick road trip bro. See Mt. Baker and Mt. Rainer when you're up near Seattle. When you're close to San Diego, stop at Blacks Beach and check out the cliffs.

I heard that there will be paving going on at beartooth pass, it might be finished when you come through. Either way don't let the road construction report scare you they are only paving at night.

Kicked the trip off today. Made it to Ft. Worth and in ready to crash for the night. Hopefully today was the longest driving day at 700 miles. Heading to Austin tomorrow.

Nothing picture worthy yet. Heading to Carlsbad tomorrow, then Big Bend for a couple of days after that.

Man you should have considered the Solar Eclipse on August 21st when you planned this trip. It'll be a once in our lifetime opportunity to see one. Unless you travel abroad
