Good luck! Like I said, I was over where Bear Brook loops in when I caught them, but you might have good luck where the River comes in from Richardson lake, too. Especially since the water's probably warming up now, they might be hanging out in that cooler discharge from Richardson. Since it's so much deeper it stays cooler longer (I've been swimming in Richardson on the 4th of July before and had it be on the shrinky dink side of comfortable)

Although as a master baiter you probably already knew that.

Are you buying a house in Newport or something?
I was catching 5 lb togue in Richardson 3 weeks ago! Buddy caught an 8. Stay at the remote sites every spring for a week, have been for 10 years now. New smelt regulations on Richardson, so hopefully the salmon starts to get bigger!

@fatfurious2 if you're going through northern NH I'd say go to Mt Washington. You can drive up, hike up or take the COG railway but if you decide to go there bring a Jacket! Even in the summer, weather there is crazy. If you're going to Maine make sure to get some seafood (if you like it). We did the lost trains and the B52 crash site last year and that was very cool to see.

Boston is great if you've never been there, it's got tons of great restaurants and lots of history!

I know that it was founded by an outcast from the Massachusetts Bay Colony, that it was the first of the original colonies to renounce British rule and that they were heavy into the slave trade during the early 1800's. Big part of the industrial revolution.
Newport itself I know was founded by people from the ?Portsmouth? Colony, Benedict Arnold was it's first Governor, and it was occupied by the British for most of the first part of the Revolutionary war before they abandoned it to strengthen their position in New York. Big navy city, big colonial historic district. Lots of expensive stuff.
    Just the basics.

Oh, and also that I didn't like it when I visited there.

it's where a lot of people fled to for religious tolerance, so it's like a paradigm for the state. the oldest synagogue in the us is there. and then american royalty started building "cottages" to vacation there. lots of old money, interesting history, cool architecture, good food, and beaches. what's not to like?

What about these laws of not carrying an ice cream cone in my pocket on Tuesdays. True?

No that wasn't me but we saw and used that to inspire us too. Check out my media page to see the pic's. As a matter of fact the 1st thing I saw when I started reading it was the guy stopped and stayed at Bishops Motel in Jackman Maine. I go there sometimes when I go snowmobiling!

    1) Tons of people
    2) American Royalty
    3) The beaches are only nice if you don't mind tons and tons of people (which I do)
    4) If the weather's nice, the traffic sucks.
    5) Everything's Expensive, with a capital 'E'

I'm an 'off-grid camp on a lake in the woods with no neighbors' sort of guy, so Newport is kind of the antithesis of my happy place. :notsure:
