    I noticed the AC compressor doesn't kick in when I turn on the AC. Checked the fuses and they're good.

    You asked why I don't like it. They're my reasons.

    1) I hate crowds. Drunk people annoy me. Crowds full of drunk entitled wealthy people are definitely not my cup of tea.
    2) Spotting rich people being rich isn't even remotely entertaining to me.
    3) When I was in Newport, if it had sand it was covered by a beach towel.
    4) Spending three hours sitting in traffic looking for a parking spot? Pass.
    5) I can find good food for considerably less money without having to deal with the parts of Newport that I don't like. So I stay away.

    Besides, If I want to go to the ocean, I can go to beaches that meet many more of my criteria without having to drive to Rhode Island first, lol.

    For sure.

    But, if you'll recall, all I was saying is that Newport isn't representative of New England. You're the one who decided that my dislike stemmed from ignorance about the place, not because I'd been there and didn't care for most of its defining characteristics. :notsure:

    haha i didn't decide that it stemmed from ignorance, nor did i assume that you hadn't been there. i just disagreed with you. it's not like the mountains or urban areas, but it's very much like every other beach vacation destination in new england

    *it doesn't represent the parts of new england you like, but if newport isn't very new england, than neither are nantucket, martha's vineyard, naragansett, jamestown, the cape, etc

    Yeah, I don't really like any of the 'vacation destination' towns in New England. :anonymous:

    The only 'vacation town' I go to often/like is the town where my family Cape house is. Been in the family since the '50s. Renting down there sucks, it is expensive and a small window of when you can actually show up/leave. I always go off hour.

    We go to Sebago Lake once a year too. Not sure if that's a 'vacation town' though. More like a big lake in the middle of nowhere.

    Let me rephrase;
    I like the cultural and historical aspects of the vacation destination towns of New England very much. But I hate hate hate crowds with a passion. So I tend visit them during the off season, with the down side being that it's when they aren't as scenic and all of the little gift shops and better restaurants/food stands aren't open.

    that's really one of the reasons i want to buy a place in newport. so i can go in at an off hour, and then i'm there for the peak parts and can just walk once i'm there

    also, they have some cool stuff in the off seasons. they decorate the mansions for christmas, and do like "christmas in newport" walking tours that take you to some cool historic sites
