    Depends on where you are sourcing your boost reference from. Pre or post intercooler. Unless you have a pressure only gauge, it should be post throttle body.

    Where the boost reference for the wastegate is, will also make a difference.

    Quality of intercooler, as partially realized by how much pressure drop across it, is a factor. As well as routing of the intake tubing.

    in my case the wastegate spring is 5.80 but im showing 7. The wastegate is a tial 38mm no intercooler yet and the vacuum is from the intake tied in with the brake booster to a vacuum block and thats where the boost guage, wastegate and bov get vacuum and the guage is a combo oil pressure and boost fro glowshift

    Here is a simple example of good wastegate priority. Even commented as so, by customer service from TiAL. That is a TiAL 38 as well.

    Just went back into your build thread, and looked at your header. Long lasting style. Never had any personal experience with them, so I am not sure if that style is synonomous with a little overboost?

    Did you disassemble your wastegate, or did it come with the spring inside? If you disassembled it, you could check to see if the diaphragm is pinched.

    At first i didnt weld it right but i corrected that and ill check the wastegate diaphragm point to this is just wanting to go up one spring to see how the truck does with bigger injectors and a little more boost By the way iv been driving it like this for almost 800 mile and it hasnt gottin worse just an accuracy thing i suppose the number could be 100 as long as the engine hasent blown up

    So. Do any of you guys have experience with rebuilding ball bearing turbos? Specifically a Garrett T25? The free turbo I've got has some horrible shaft play, and it's super nasty so it needs a rebuild. The kit to DIY it is 175 and that includes an upgraded 365 degree thrust plate. I looked up a YouTube video, and it seems the only thing that I can't do is balance the CHRA, but that is cheap to send out and have done. Just not sure if I should attempt it myself or have it sent out. I'm also missing the wastegate actuator, is there a place to get that? The turbo came off of a 99 mitsubishi eclipse, so I'm assuming a standard t25 actuator won't work.

    Also, is there a preferred brand of wideband gauge? The innovate gauge seems nice, but I have zero experience with turbos and tuning in general.

    I have none. However, @KirkRio and his shop does. The Boost Lab.

    The newest version of the AEM is soooo very simple. Plug it in and done. Auto dimming and displays in the 100ths. Just a few wires, amd nothing to calibrate.

    I think @Torspd is onto something with the overboosting. If your wastegate setup isn't diverting enough gas, the turbo will spin faster and produce more boost. In my WRX, the stock boost control/wastegate setup is notorious for overboosting. It's supposed to control the boost at 15.6 psi, but I hit 20-22 psi pretty regularly if I really get on it.

    I'm running a PLX wideband. No issues with it so far.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
    Yes. When your throttle body is not open all the way, you manifold can be in vacuum and your charge pipes under boost.

    This is why you should reference your ware gate in you turbo housing or at least pre TB so you don't over boost your turbo. And why your boost gauge should be referenced to your manifold; post TB, so you know how much air is being forced into your cylinders.
