    I did NOT want a bird. Thought them to be a giant waste of money. (Which they are BTW) Sandy had to have one. She wanted a Sun Conure. One Saturday afternoon, we went to a pet shop to get flea and tick treatment for the dogs. They had this bird in a cage. Sandy asked if she could hold it. When the store clerk opened the cage, Jeni hopped out and landed on my shoulder. She immediately became my new best friend.

    It was on....

    So Sandy still wanted "her bird". We got another. It took to me.

    and so on.

    Bird #5 was her Sun Conure. Fortunately, it took a liking to Sandy, so we were good.

    Until I saw Rini, a solid yellow Indian Ring Neck, in another pet shop. Had to have her too.

    Birds have as much, if not MORE personality than dogs. They are incredibly intelligent also. Jeni (picture) is very defensive when anyone tries to get too close to me. Birds will give their lives to defend their "human". We talk to each other. She knows about 25 words, and we also have several different whistles and chirping sounds to communicate. After my cancer surgery a year and a half back, me and Jeni sat together and watched TV for 2 weeks. Her on my shoulder. When I get home, I'll post up pictures of the other 5. Each one is decidedly different.

    Aw fuck. Squirrel crawled across circuit breaker on power feed into building. Tripped one leg of 3-phase service. Most everything phase protected, but not everything. Have to wait until electric company restores power to see what damage has been done. May be a very long day.
