whops, forgot the 'D' in used :)

I've been looking for a tacoma for over a year now. I've narrowed my decision to 2 options. A 2008 tacoma DC 6spd sport(i like the looks and LSD), or a 2010 DC 6spd off road.

I need help deciding which i should pull the trigger on. I was dead set on the 2008 sport mainly due to the real LSD(don't really need a locker for my needs). With the 09+ sports using the e-diff I was really turned off.(I was thinking, and correct me if I am wrong, but the E-diff won't allow me to leave 2 black marks on demand, correct?) So I found a 2008 tacoma trd sport used with 17k miles on it, but the owner is asking 26k and won't take a dime less than 24.5. I am thinking that I might as well get a 2010 when used trucks are a few thousand below what a dealer will sell the trucks at, and all the new accessories are pretty nice. At least the off road has something in the rear, and i hear a-trac is pretty nice.

What do ya'll think. I've been trying to save my money and really didn't want to be near 30k in the hole, but I can afford it. I've been looking to spend 20-23k

For the price of the 08 I would go new as well. Don't seem to be a super deal or anything.

Cant go wrong either way imo. Depends where you'd rather be financially. I was making the same decision about 2 months ago and really preferred the payments on the '08 as opposed to the '10.

Well, with the 0.0% for 36 mo on a new one is tempting. I can easily pay the truck off in that amount of time.

Also, has anyone done the 'grey wire' mod to their 2010 off road? I've been searching around, but haven't found much info on people doing this to their 09+. I was wondering if this would throw the electronics in a hissy? I wouldn't mind doing the occasional locked diff drifting in the open field, but don't want to screw up the electronics.

find a used one at a dealer and haggle the price down.

much more room to negotiate on the used lot then new.

Oh yeah, I totally, would. Its just so hard to find a DC 6spd with a trd package. Not to mention under 50k mi or so. Even then, they ask 25s and won't budge under 22,5 or 23. I know tacoma's are great, but i can't justify that kind of coin when i had a quote for a 2009 trd sport for 24,999(before i knew about the E-diff too) . I regret not jumping on that with the tax incentive the govt gave.

I kept looking at earlier and earlier Tacomas trying to find the sweet spot where the used one (with the accompanying higher interest rate on a loan) would be cheaper than a new one, given the same down payment and such.

Once I got back to 5 years old and it still wasn't actually going to be cheaper, I stopped looking and bought new.
