@Johnc11 you are in the wrong section. this is only for 1st Gen Tacoma's people think/know are priced higher than they should be.

This is not to sell your Tundra truck, there is a section for that (https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/buy-sell-trade.17/)

I live in the NE, mine looks no where near that bad.

Agreed never buy unless you check it out, though (or by someone who's informed). Words to live by.

Serious undercarriage rusting depends on where the truck spent it's years prior to showing up for sale. Here in Arizona, Gen1's don't rust. They're as good frame wise right now as they were the day they were assembled. My '03 Gen1 has no rust on it whatsoever, and it's a life long Arizona truck. So find a Gen1 from the desert southwest, inspect it carefully, and you'll find a truck that'll more than likely last you as many years as you want to drive it, as long as you service it regularly!..

Truth...got my 04 last year in San Diego after it was traded in from a guy that had it in Arizona and rarely drove it...24k miles (then, 50k now)....and most importantly a pristine frame.

Really feel for you guys in the salt states that have to put up with that BS. I'd be so bummed if I lost an otherwise perfectly good 1st gen to rust.

I could see a well-maintained, stock, TRD 4x4 double cab getting 14k with 114k miles on it. Maybe even 15k around here (SoCal). The miles are "low" for the year but not "ultra low"....mine was 'ultra low' when I got it last year at 24,500 miles. The guy that posted last week in the "Lowest mileage 1st gen" thread with 539 miles is "ultra low" (actually that's almost unbelievable low, lol). But $20k+ is nuts for this truck, it didn't cost much more than that when it was new and it's 15 years old with 100k on the clock. Crazy. I'm not a fan of the fancy 3rd gen wheels on 1st gens either (no offense to anyone here).

Someone will probably buy it though.

That price is truly crazy - I paid a little under $15k for a completely stock, 67k mile, 3.4L, 5 speed, TRD, stepside with service records. It's hard to justify paying $20k for a truck that cost basically that much when new - especially when you can have a truck that's equally as good for 15k, even around here where truck prices are so high!

One of the many reasons I do not want to purchase another vehicle ever. Too much smoke blowing.
