So after fighting with Toyota about my rear brakes not feeling right, lots of shutter at highway speeds, i got the usual, 'can't duplicate the problem' - Then I find this last night. Going back in today for other reasons, lets see if what they say now.

If you brought this in and they did an inspection they should have found it but if they didn't do an inspection and this wasn't discovered by the dealership and they just turned you away claiming this is normal then I would bring it too another dealership if there is one that isn't too far away

That's BS, your dealer is clearly not doing their due diligence. File a claim with corporate if the dealer won't take charge.

would be a little early for it to fail but it could be the rear axle seal as well, leaking gear oil into the drum assembly. such an early failure would make you think that rear wheel bearing has already gone bad and is wobbling around, stressing the seal to fail.

whatever it is, will be interesting to see what the culprit is, good luck

Had the same "shudder" issue, they said - we'll take them off and turn them, I said
no you won't, I just bought a new truck with new parts, you're not turning them 5+
years early, put new ones on or I'll make an appointment every weekend until you
do and continue filing with corp. 6 hours later.........new drums!

Looks like an axle seal leak, that's the parking brake cable.
