Checking the piston depth involves pulling the resi off? It's been a long time since I did this lol

Once you have the shaft out, just pop the clip on the side of the resi's with the nitrogen valve. Then you can set the piston if needed. No, you don't have to pull the whole resi's apart.

Didn't think you could? Pretty sure the point of bleeding the shock while rebuilding is to get all the air out so there is only oil in it. If you put too much oil in, it will just make a mess when you push the seal into place, but that's what you want.

If you don't have the right piston depth and put too much oil in, the oil can only compress so much and you will damage the shock.

You can. If your piston depth in the resi isn't set correct.

You can also just put a few lbs of air into the resi and that pushes the piston back too

Yup! However I was pretty sure that you don't want the piston all the way on the hose side? Everything I've seen leaves some amount of space, I can't remember exactly why though hah

This is what I was thinking. Haven't done a truck shock yet, but this is always what we did rebuilding motocross shocks. Same idea and standard procedure in my opinion

The way I do it is small amount of air to make sure its bottomed against the hose. Then fill shock with oil, set shaft in oil and bleed like normal. Then as you put the seal head in just before you get to the seal let the pressure out of the resi. When you push the seal head the rest of the way in its going to push the resi piston back a little bit. Foxes are a little different because you have a massive resi compared to King, so you can set the seal head back a bit more and have more room for oil in the res, if that makes sense

Speaking of, I ruined two of my schrader valves last night because my no loss chuck is messed up and ate the threads. Now I need two new schraders and a no loss chuck :(

When are you heading back? I'd love to head out but got too much going on the next few weeks. And realistically I won't be adding any major projects to the truck until probably later in the year at best. Just want to hop in a caged truck for a ride sooner than later and you're one of the closer guys to where I'm at that I know of. Other than anyone down in phx. Just too hot down there right now lol
