Probably been done already, going to look for it after I eat this flank steak I just grilled over some Stubbs. Hungry, and didn't have the time to smoke it man little man is "starving to death." Pairing it with fresh broccoli I picked yesterday, and a labatts blue.
Get out. You ain't got no dog in this hunt.

    Agreed.

Propane is fine for "cooking", and *maybe* "grilling" if you define that word real loosely, but smoking? Nada.

Never understood why some just because a company in the US is successful automatically decides they are evil. They usually become successful for a reason and there are many reasons.

Had to take a deep breathe and a break after reading your "cancer" and "science" posts. I retired from the Navy bit more than 20 years ago and was in Asheville, NC at the time and stayed there. My father passed away from esophagus cancer and a head hunter happened to call from one of the few places in the world that might be able to find a cure for cancer. I am not smart enough to cure it but can support those that can so I moved to Mn. Ideology isn't all it is cracked up to be but I will support your right to your opinion even if I don't agree with it. And would give my life for you to allow you to have it.

World of research sucks, government grants and begging, political agendas, personal agendas and eventually landed on the side of the shield supporting those that are still alive and that give care to those suffering.

Never dreamed in my wildest nightmares that 2 years ago my youngest son would be diagnosed with Advanced Stage IVB Lymphoma cancer. Spent a year going through hell with him and a year ago it went into remission. It is back.

Smoking foods is a well-known source of food contaminated caused by carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Epidemiological studies indicates a statistical correlation between the increased occurrence of cancer of the intestinal tract and the frequent intake of smoked foods.

This study was conducted in Hungary with all natural home-smoked meat products. Including natural woods.

Meathead tries to skirt around it by saying not charring meat is safe. But anyone that does a good sear knows charring is a good thing for the taste buds. And he says that is why use the 2 zone system. But we all know that dripping fats and juices on the meat are what make it taste so good. And why we do it.

    http://amazingribs.com/tips_and_technique/grilling_and_cancer.html

More evidence is needed empirically however the outlook really isn't good if you smoke or grill. Doesn't matter what you use. Have to pick and choose your battles. But do not EVER come at me with an emotional non logical statement about cancer. Even if it is logical I will scrutinize your methodology before I even think about running through SAS. Let alone applying for a grant for further study. Just saying :fistbump:

My dozen 14" pizza screens for the WSM came today. I smell home made sugar free jerky coming this weekend.

hey man not sure why you felt this was in any way "coming at you" I am sorry about your loss and thank you for your service...

we are all human here and most if not all will be directly and or indirectly stricken with the many facets of cancer... with our without eating some meat cooked on a grill.

    Best wishes for your son.

Not trying to attack you here, just confused by your post and couldn't follow it. You are irritated by his mention of cancer, then provide support for his assertation that it could cause cancer, then say you ordered more equipment for smoking. I'm not sure what your point is, maybe it's been a long day and I need another beer.

My sister died of brain cancer 4 months ago. Never smoked, never drank, ate weird to me health food her whole life. I honestly don't know what to think anymore. I do know I'm not gonna worry about the bark on my butt, pardon the pun.

Sooooo what's everyone gonna smoke this weekend. I'd like to try some of that rub a dub dub on some turkey legs if I can find them in the store. I've gotten them from the renaissance festival before and they were really good. Sad news just got back from Target and the Weber charcoal is still 19.99 a bag.:(

I haven't tried pizza on the grate before. Do you put the dough on for a few mins first? I have a Weber master touch with a pizza stone insert and it works ok.

    Ah shit. Smokers thread.

This is going on my Weber with an alternate fuel source..

Putting the dough on when the pizza goes in, no pre cook.

First time I'll have tried it. Homemade dough, done before in the oven. Hoping it comes out okay on the grill. It's too hot to cook inside today.

I believe it was the @ Cold Iron LOL. Well it has to be logical if you are going to provide a solution. Other wise you might as well sacrifice a chicken or pig :) Brazilian Navy did that when we did a hot plant turnover to them. They burnt the #1 engine room up on the way back home LOL the chicken blood on the bow didn't help.

No harm done, I hope, and like I said agree with some of what you said. Global warming is now Global Climate change. Back in the 70's in science we were going to produce the next ice age the way evil America was headed. But lets not get into trouble with someone saying we are getting political ;) But it happened in real life...

Lady I have been seeing hates Monsanto because of roundup. And the Ex hates Big Pharma because she is now a massage therapist and sells salts and is little pharma. My friends are mostly farmers, as I was growing up. When I mentioned roundup to my farmer friends they say oh shit we won't get along I buy Roundup by the barrel or car train load. And they all rotate to prevent resistance to it.

Well because of you purchased a 12 pack of Labatts Blue about week ago damn it LOL. Took me almost a week to go through it. Don't need the carbs but brought back a lot of memories.

Can't recall if eggs are going to kill you this week or not? Oh that is an ice breaker in a meeting room filled with a bunch of Piled Higher and Deepers (PhD) and MD's..

My point was above. You can try and live a totally healthy lifestyle and extend your life. And to have health is everything. But the cancers are many, and a lot of them are genetically based which is why the reason for genomics. Doesn't really matter if you use natural or man made charcoal. It is what it is.

At my age it can be best summed up with this. It is not a joke although I am only knocking at the door of 60-

I recently turned 65 and had to choose a new primary care physician for my Medicare program.

After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, he said I was doing "fairly well" for my age.

A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, "Do you think I will live to be 80?"

He asked: Do you smoke tobacco or drink alcoholic beverages?"

"Oh no," I replied. "I don't do drugs, either."

"Do you have many friends and entertain frequently?"

"I said, "No, I usually stay home and keep to myself".

"Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?"

I said, "No, my other doctor said that all red meat is unhealthy!"

"Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?"

    "No, I don't," I said.

"Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?"

"No," I said. "I don't do any of those things."

He looked at me and said, "Then why do you give a shit?
