Hey, you can't really knock the Wrangler. It's a lot easier to make it way more capable off-road than it is the Tacoma. I mean, really, you can slap a 3" lift on it and run 37s and it comes from the factory with a solid front axle which would be way cheaper to upgrade to a D60 or something than it is to SAS a Tacoma. Not to mention the crap-ton of cool bolt-on shit they have for Jeeps.

On the down side, it's sort of hard to pick up a load of lumber or a large appliance or something from the home center with a Jeep...at least until they come out with the pickup version of it they've been teasing us with for the last decade. :D

(Yes, I'm still disgusted with the OGT's lack of durability and halfway wishing I got a TJ instead.)

I looked at TJ's for awhile before getting my Tacoma I liked the idea of dana 44 stocked with a inline 6 and solid axles. I do particularly like the 2005 unlimited LJ very similar to the old scrambler body style. That being said I do like to carry stuff besides a couple bag of groceries in my vehicle.

That's pretty much why I'm only halfway wishing I got a Jeep instead, haha. Needed a truck to haul random stuff with. That hasn't changed.

That said, if I had the cash that a fully loaded new JK Rubicon goes for, I would gladly spend it on SAS'ing the OGT and making it bomb-proof.

If you look closely, I think you can just make out the hook sticking out from under the bumper. Looks like it has a T4R grille too. It's a serious POS though. It'd hurt my feelings to pay more than about $500 for it, and that's only if I wanted to use the bare cab for a truggy or something.

You're right. It's a 5-lug grille and bumper. Didn't realize they had a different grille for the 5-luggers. Looks similar to how the T4R grille is designed. It's probably still a '97 5-lug front clip though.

i'm actually very confused on the 5 lug front clip, because my understanding was 95-97 had this grill, similar to the 6 lugs

    https://www.google.com/search?q=95+...AUIDCgD&biw=1115&bih=619#imgrc=m4gikm-8uCNvhM:

and the 98's were redesigned, but when i google imaged, some came up with redesigned and some came up after....at first i thought people didn't know the year of their car, which is not uncommon on the internet, but there were soooo many of them

it's also possible they only redesigned the 5 lugs in 1997, but i still doubt that

    I think that's exactly what happened. ;)

I went off on a google tangent and was looking at these headlights. If you notice what it says about the applications, the 2WD application goes back a year further than the 4WD application. When did the Prerunner begin?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Blk-1997-2000-Toyota-Tacoma-2WD-98-99-4WD-LED-Halo-Projector-Headlight-Headlamps-/361492037492

BTW, anybody know if these are any good? They are way cheaper than I expected a set of them to be. Might be an interesting option to consider when I get tired of my dirty dim OEM headlights.

Most stuff on here is sold at less then new price you will get beat up on price.

Does it have the plates for the frame just see 2" tube sticking out. Something is missing from the pictures. And if you clean them up and primer them you will get a better price. Take it or leave it. Just advice

Scotch brite with some white vinegar. Than some good etching primer like Timbo said. I believe he would get a good price for them. GLWS
