You have a very valid concern. In almost all platforms / vehicles we write calibrations for there is always concern. Which is why I am slow. These days tuning is not twisting a dizzy or reading spark plugs or "feeling it" or "it smells rich pull some fuel out." It's understanding engine mechanics and data, math. It's all math these days.
With that being said there is always the off chance something can happen, we won't deny it. Is it common? No. it's extraordinarily rare.

They still think it's uncrackable. Toyota did something very smart, but ultimately extremely careless to protect their calibration as soon as the processor specifications were released from Renesas last year. Anyways a topic for another discussion!

Do you own a M/T truck? If you do, you'd know why this isn't about driver skill or lack thereof. You can pull off a downshift at the perfect time, but then the truck doesn't respond.. and don't even get me started on trying to rev match.. holy fuck the laggggg. Like many have said, this is more anout driveability than increasing power. Your post isn't helpful at all.

Your 1GR apparently doesn't have the same complex torque management bullshit the 3rd gen does. So how would you know it's driver error or not? Another 2nd gen troll post in a thread that has NOTHING to do with you. Let us have this one, oh high and mighty.

Anxiously awaiting tune and subsequent results from others.
    wish list:
#Keep with 87 grade gas if possible
    #Stop dropping into 6th at 38mph
#Improve lag time / throttle response (I wanna it to go when I want it to not 2 sec later)
#Increase idle speed so my truck doesn't rev with low speed steering or the A/C

IMO, if it fails due to the tune, you shouldn't even bother Toyota.

I like the LS swap idea. It's a good one!

    Maybe do the Cummins swap?

I like mine when it shifts to 6th at 38. Funny, because I get 28-29 MPG on my way to work, 15 mile ride with cruise set at 39

Yea don't get bogged down with answering every question. We would rather you use the time to get the truck on the dyno and get things moving production wise. Thank you again!

I hated that, the pedal commander fixed that for me Was annoyed with ECT keeping the tranny from shifting.

Seriously, you think they've been working this hard on it before releasing it without a thorough testing?

Are you saying that OVtune is making this claim?

I new to this world of Electronically controlled Valves and throttle bodies, but that seems way too good to be true.

Driveability and safety. Sometimes I feel that I need to downshift like crazy to catch up when I was not expecting to, the truck lags and causes concerns. I was never looking for a performance car, but was expecting something on par with my 2006 manual Xterra which still kills us in this dept.

Oh, you bet they are on the conservative side. But that doesn't have anything to do with it.
Curious. How many gears does you 2nd gen have?

See, thats why I said there are a lot on this forum that don't know how to drive. Your trying to force the truck to drive the way you want it to. Instead you should learn to drive the truck.
You gotta be smarter than the truck.

Here's me flooring it and holding it down until
80ish mph. Throttle never goes past 80%. It does some funky shit in first gear.

It'd be cool if you could add ignition timing as well..

The OBD never shows 0% or 100%. The lowest it goes is like 15% and the highest is probably ~85 (looks higher than 80 in your graph). My gen1 was the similar. I guess they figure the throttle plate obstructs ~15% of the throttle body even when it's "fully" open.

That it drops to 50% at low rpm is not a problem, IMO. Like I said earlier, no matter how wide you open the throttle the engine can't use much air at 1500 rpm. That it doesn't reach ~85 closer to 6k rpm is troubling. It's just not taking you seriously until 2nd. Maybe it has to do with traction control? ECT or no?

Alrighty everyone I am speaking with our local TRD owner, we will be retrieving ROM data from his car next week then getting it on the dyno.

We have now listed this package on our website, and want to clarify about this a little. Once we have the car on the dyno and get our maps tested we know there are many folks PMing us ready to buy, we are going to offer a package for people who are ready right away to get the ball rolling on us getting all ROM file versions supported. With what we have seen from Toyota we are expecting about 10-15 different ROM versions. Each one needs the maps parsed which will take us about 3 days to do 10.

I am explaining this because what is on our website is a place-holder. thanks
