Synthetic Oil yes or no

What brand of synthetic is everyone using I have a 2015 V6 and was thinking of changing since using all of the Toyota free ones.

 

I use Mobil 1 synthetic and OEM filters.

 

Mobil One. Don't listen to the Amsoil users saying Mobil isnt a true synthetic. True synthetic or not you'll get the same amount of miles over time. Amsoil is good don't get me wrong but unless you plan on doing a uoa to see how far it will go it's not worth the money. Even then the price of a uoa is as much as a oil change. I went 6K-7500 on my 3.4L with Mobil One with 190K at trade in.

 

Are you using 0 20W?

it comes down to how much money you want to spend on OCIs, if your doing regular 5-6k oci then you might as well use a brand name dino or even semi synthetic at a lower cost(not much these days cause Mobil and Pennzoil have mail in/online rebates that lower the cost of full synthetics almost 50%)

Like others have said, 5W30 Mobile 1 Synthetic and OEM filters. Can't beat it. I change a filter every 5k miles and the oil every 10k miles. Truck always seems happy.

5-30 valvoline full synthetic. I get it for free that's why.

 

+1 i rock 0w-30 (better startup protection and trust me, its not "to thin" many tests have been done on this)

 

if it wasn't made to use synth, don't IMO

Some engines will burn more or leak more using it

Save your money and follow the manual

I changed mine yesterday and used Valvoline MaxLife Full Synthetic.

I'm normally more of a Pennzoil/QS fan, but the only Platinum High-Milaege my local Walmart carries is 0w-20, and the QS is only a syn blend. My truck has no leaks, but it is ten years old now and I don't want the seals turning brittle.

 

I've used M1, QSUD and Castrol with an OEM filter. I usually buy whatever is on sale, haven't noticed a difference between any of them. Also I change every 5K and buy yourself a Fumoto valve if you're gonna be diy.

 

Whatever name brand synthetic is cheapest. Usually Mobil 1 with the "$12 per 5-quarts annual rebate," which works out to about $13.00 per jug.
Sometimes Valvoline SynPower if its on sale and I need the oil (the local Pep Boys had a great Valvoline deal recently). But really, all of the name brand synthetics are very very good oils (Pennzoil, Castrol, Quaker State, etc.)
While it's probably good oil, I avoid the store brand synthetics (O'Reilly, Supertech, etc). Smart shoppers get the name brands for slightly more than the store brands.
