Hey guys. I'm preparing to install a VDO Vision 12v battery gauge. I'd like for the light to come on with the truck lights.
Any suggestions on which wire to tap into for the gauge light?
I'm using a single gauge pod that will mount on the A pillar. Used SEM 15813 Medium Dark Pewter Color Coat which matches really well (my interior color is charcoal).

    Appreciate your help.

If you don't want it to dim at all, you can use an add a circuit and use the TAIL fuse. It'll come on with your parking/headlights.

Well, I thought the tail light fuse was located in the interior fuse panel but it's actually in the engine bay fuse box. Does anyone know of an interior wire source? I've been looking at wiring schematics to see if the tail light wire runs under the plastic door scuff plate. It appears to be a solid green wire, but not 100% sure.

No, you are good man. If all else fails I will tap into the tail light fuse and just run it through the firewall.

To light the gauge solution....I identified what appears to be the tail light/license plate light wire using a voltage circuit tester. Bulb on tester would light up when probing this wire and turning the headlight switch to the parking lights and headlights position.
Need help with one other thing. To power the VDO battery gauge, I'd like to use a fuse tap in the interior accessory fuse slot but I'm already utilizing that to power a oem fog light switch.

Any suggestions on what to tap into to power the battery gauge? I want it to come on as soon as the key is turned to the acc position.

Ok, I may have answered my own question and learned something new. I was using the the test light and found another accessory blank fuse that's "hot" when the key is turned to accessory/run.
In the picture it's the top blank one on the far left above the 15amp fuse.IMG_4036.jpg
