ok I kinda have a dilemma and i cant figure out which one i want.... I have narrowed it down to 2 handguns.... The first is the Kimber 1911 .45Cal Target Eclipse 2 and the second is the Sig Sauer P226 40 Cal. Now i love them both but i can only get one right now.. FML.. haha... But for some reason i feel that the 1911 is more of a collector gun than one u go and put quite a few rounds through...?? what yall think...

I have the Sig and I have a buddy that has the Kimber. They are both a bit on the large side for carry weapons, especially the 1911... IMO. If they are just for home protection purposes I would prefer the extra knockdown of the .45 but it's always down to personal preference, oh and price...the Kimber is almost 2xs as much no?

Will this be a carry gun or a range gun? both? I find that the 1911 is a fine carry piece so long as you have a good holster and belt to go with it. Ive never owned a sig so i cant really give an opinion there, but a quality 1911 will be a fine shooter and last for quite some time.

I have an older stainless double stack Kimber that I use and abuse, shoot all the time, keep by the bed, carry in the tree-stand, and I love it. Call me overtly American, but when if comes to having to save myself or my family, I would use nothing less than a .45 jhp and thats only if I can't get to a shotgun or my Marlin .44 mag levergun. If its just to shoot, the sig is great though, and there is a valid argument for realigning your sights faster because of less recoil.

Kinda depends on what purpose the gun is for. Is it going to be a carry piece or will it be strictly a range piece, etc. The .40 will have some better ballistics at greater range but at standard defensive shooting engagement ranges both will be excellent. The 1911 will have a slightly slimmer size making it a little easier to carry concealed if that is your intention but at the loss of a considerable amount of ammunition per magazine compared to the Sig. Also the single action only of the Kimber versus the double action/single action of the Sig may be a consideration unless you go with a double action only Sig. In the end they are both outstanding firearms and you can't go wrong with either one as long as you train with it appropriately. The magazines for the Kimber will be easier to find and much cheaper, however.

Maybe you should just buy both and whatever you choose send me the other one. :)

check it out, the .40 cal is a better round in my opinion, and if youre going to get a 1911, get an original colt from a reputable gun store, i would get the sig, ive heard good things, never shot one, but heard good stuff
I just got a remington 700 7mm mag for my 18th birthday, still waiting to drive out in my new tacoma and shoot it :D

I'm partial to the 1911 but I really like Sig's too. That's a good dilemma.
