Oh hell if they paid us for them over time or even straight pay I would do them sitting here at home lol instead of trying to do my job and them at the same time lol they don't let us have phones or tablets at work so I can't do my job and sit through death by powerpoint.

You sound like me with the getting paid for it. As a State employee, these training's are mandatory. A relatively new one is the 'Protection of Minor Children Policy'. Requires employees to be 'mandatory reporters' if we see or hear something suspicious. This policy is a direct result of the Jerry Sandusky conviction. I was the union rep on the committee to form said policy. My comment was if employees have this added responsibly to be reporters, we need added compensation. Was not successful with that.

Next Thursday I have 'Managing Inclusion Training' from 8 - 4:30... :frusty:

Mike, not a bad Bonneville. '70ish? My parents had a '70 Catalina which they bought after their only son totaled their Tempest when he was 3 years old... Pretty funny seeing my Mom drive around in the Catalina - she's only about 5' tall.

Yup, just making sure you knew why!

BTW, let the kids know that you can take most of the car apart with just a 1/2" & 9/16" wrench...

That would be because I am a state employee lol. With what I do , I do not work with children but we have ahem training to deal with adult on adult versions of the JS thing. In your guys case my question would be what protections are offered to the employee who does report ? IE are you operating under the flag so are they not held personally liable if they are mistaken? Where is the Unions attorney on this ? As you are now acting as an agent of Law Enforcement ( this gets sticky legally) , what personal protections does the employee have ? More then once someone who has reported suspected abuse and been wrong then faces a law suit from the parents / guardian is the state going to back the employee and pay any and all attorney fees and possible judgment's against the employee ?

I have seen this several times employee does his job, gets sued by the party for doing so is found not guilty nor liable in state courts . Then they are sued in federal courts. Attorneys certified for federal courts are expensive in my state they generally throw you to the wolves then. They are not bound to provide you anything but a Public Offender ( Defender) and if the suit is successful a federal court judge can order the resulting awards be paid by the party involved not the state.

Welcome to the wonderful world of LEO. I discussed insurance in here a while ago and that would be a policy I have too, along with structuring finance house etc so they are un attachable nor subject to any judgments. Thanks to the knowledge of my father LOl retired after 27 years as a state trooper.
