I only knew about it from a friend and my brother who both asked if i was going up there... And then told me about the hotels being booked in 2015.

    It's crazy!

It's interesting that the smaller the RV, the higher the cost per square foot.

Full size campers attached to full size Fords and GMC's are much less that just the camper alone for a smaller 1/2 ton truck.

.Cruising Craigslist, to get an idea of what is out there used vs buying new, I find ads for those ridiculous tiny houses, sitting on a 6x10 trailer, asking $42,000.00.
Right next to that is a 3-4 year old pull behind, 20' for $2500.00, and it is fully self contained, with flat screen and full size couch included

My wife and I were just talking about this. We wanted to downsize our camper to make it tow easier. The cheapest RVs on there are 30ish foot bumper pulls that would almost require a dually 1 ton.

    ok, it's 8x18.

I'm ready for the next phase. Fuck the establishment. :D
Originally wanting a small camper for the Tundra, now seeing some benefits of a smaller trailer, like a Airstream Bambi size. And a simple canopy for the truck to carry my tools and toys
Apparently people are living all over the US in federal campgrounds for free, if you're willing to volunteer/work a few hours a day. The work is easy too since most volunteers are a bit geriatric.

i've got some questions about maintenance and some problems i've been having.
i'll start with hopefully the easy one: my brakes are super soft. the pedal goes damn near to the floor to engage full braking power, feels like there's air in the lines.
I'm hoping that's as easy as bleeding the brakes, how much of a PITA is that? I remember hating it on my gsxr.

Now, the new issue i've discovered.... looks like my CVs are pissed off at me
    [IMG]

what does that look like to someone who knows this stuff more than i do? :rain:

unless you have recently cracked open the brake lines, I'd suspect the master cylinder.

New CV boot or my favorite re-mans from Napa will take care of the slinging grease.

I've been running either BFG ATs or Goodyear Adventure ATs since 1994 living here. Happy with both.

The latter are on my truck now and the first time running them.

Well, I expect hate mail for this comment, but the CVJ re-mans seem to start leaking about a year after installation, but maybe there is more to it than that.
The Napa re-mans I have had good luck with so far, the Taco is on it's 3rd or 4th yeasr with a set and the boots look great.
Supposedly the OEM shafts are the strongest, that being said, a new boot would be the cheapest, but messiest way to fix it and retain factory strength. Since you're on 35's, might want to think about that.
I'd seek advice from @thefatkid about the master cylinder. For me, I would just replace it. not much more downstream after that unless you have a leak.

My CVJs have been holding up perfectly.

I think the people having issues are those that don't read instructions or cycle and are rubbing the boot on their coilovers.

Okay, i'm all for what works.. OEM would be nice, but i have a feeling it's going to be astronomically expensive. Being on 35s, yea i do want good strength and ill be trying to steer away from chinacrap.

Is it worth it to re-boot or should i just go for a whole new thang?

and It's been a little hard to diagnose the brake leaks now with all the grease from the CVs all over, but i'm going to try and see if theres any visible leaks before i go straight to master cyl. however, my brakes are super inconsistent, sometimes they bite right down and get decent stopping power. other presses it just sinks closer and closer to the floor and feels like im stomping on a pillow to get it to stop. couple pumps can help but it's not like i pump it and its firm again - def still squishy

    :D

reboots are just messy from what I have read and the pics i have seen. Personally, I think it's a good skill set to have. I haven't tried it mainly because I don't seem to have time for that sort of thing.
I did save my Tundra axles, and plan to reboot them and keep for spares. Mainly for the experience and purchasing "new" axles from Napa didn't require a core charge.
