ive searched to see if this thread was already made, and didn't really find what I was looking for.

I'm just curious how many people have chosen the blackout emblem overlays https://nox-lux.com/product/2016-2017-tacoma-black-out-kit/

compared to just plasti dipping the emblems.

and as for headlights and taillights, has anyone had experience with the tinting kits?

thanks for the insight ive never done either of these things, and just need a nudge in witch direction I should go.

I saw those overlays on Amazon, but stayed away based on user reviews.

Used plastidip and it turned out great. At this point i've only used it on the rear and door emblems. Get some beer and it's a great way to spent the afternoon.

I got the overlays. I considered just plasti-dipping mine and figured getting them blacked out by a professional was best route to go.

I purchased mine and received it a couple days ago. Waited until it was nice and warm out then installed them. Easy installation and they look great. I'm not a fan of chrome so in my opinion it was money well spent. Cheaper than purchasing black emblems from the dealer and you don't need to go thru the trouble of debadging your taco. Mine fit on like a glove and doesn't look like it's gonna come off anytime soon. If I had to pick a negative it would be the fact that you'd need to purchase the whole set for $99.99 as Nox Lux will not separate. I only used 3 out of the 7 overlays. Still, the black emblems look many times better than the chrome emblems. Buy them, you won't be disappointed.

Personally, I can't understand why you'd want to spend $100 for the overlays when plasti-dip is as cheap and easy as it is - $5/can, and 1 can to cover all the emblems on the truck.

Lots of effort to cover the surrounding area, pre-wax the paint around the badges so the plasti-dip doesn't stick, etc. etc. etc. (I've read threads about people doing so).. and for me, as a novice to truck related stuff.. nox-lux is the easier solution to getting rid of the chrome badges, since I don't want to debadge etc.

To you, it might be easier/cheaper.. but to me, as a novice and not wanting to screw up my month old brand new truck.. nope.. Nox-lux was easier, and they look good. My only complaint about them is that the space in the top of the A is completely blacked out too.. so the paint doesn't show through, but it's not as noticeable unless you're really looking for it.

    Exactly this
Although I have novice painting experience, the Nox lux is more simple than messing with plasti dip. Took me less than 4 mins to clean my emblems then lay the overlays on them.

The A's being filled in were driving me nuts, so I took an X-acto knife to them and now the paint shows through, although the differ nice is very subtle.

^^^^ that is the noxlux? all you did was cut out the A's?

looks great...........I may go that route.

I'm also a noob to the truck world, ive never plasti dipped anything before......but like you said for 6$ a can whats the worst that could happen, it cant mess anything up, you can just peel it off if you mess up.

    but jwilson2899, that looks great

Didn't smoke the headlights since I want max light output (drive in the woods at night frequently). But the tail lights I did with 7 coats of smoke plasti dip, and 2 coats of glossy clear plasti dip . Since the tail lights are easy to remove, I sprayed then on the ground away from the truck
