Have owned a 2007 double cab SR5 for 2 years now. Looking to trade in for 2012 TRD double cab, 33,000 miles, 1 owner, looks like a DOT from a city in West Virginia, car fax looks clean. Used dealer here in Burnsville NC bought it recently at auction in Tennessee. Had a mechanic raise it up and all looks well. Mechanic wasn't concerned about the rust (pictures attached). Need opinions on the forum here.... Should I be concerned ? thanks

Looks normal for an 07. I would prbably clean it up before it gets too bad. Looks like the recall for leaf springs wasnt done on it. I would check the main frame for anything.

Looks pretty good by Canadian standards for the year.

Looks like bad surface rust, but nothing catastrophic. If the price is good you could clean that up really easy.

Welcome to TW-I bought my '02 from Charleston, WV. with about the same amount of rust but a New frame. In 2015 I sprayed all the rust with Skyco Ospho available from Ace Hardware then painted w/ POR , still looks like new.

I used wire brush wheels on a drill on the "easy to get to areas" & wire brush by hand for hard to reach areas- then sprayed Generously w/ Skyco Ospho ( follow the Manu. directions), let dry till white chalky looking substance -Paint !

Well, I punted on buying the 2012. Thanks for all the feedback. Great forum for Taco owners.

My existing 2007 has very little rust underneath, and new leaf springs, compliment of a recall. Major interest in 2012 was the mileage (32K) vs the 07 mileage (155K). We're looking to travel more across the US.
