Back several years ago when we used to do electronic repair I would have answered yes without a doubt when it came to replacing projector lamps. The Chinese junk never held up as long and in most cases never had the brightness that Philips and Osram bulbs did. For all I know Morimoto could be a better bulb but the only way I would buy is if the Philips was on an indefinite backorder.

Well...this was unexpected. The "philips" bulbs (which are unbranded and suspect, IMO) at 4300k are WAY more yellow than my CNLight Ball Bulbs rated at 4300k. Verdict is out on light output, I need to wait for nightfall there, but these look more like what I'd consider 3500k.

The white balance in the photo isn't optimal to show the color difference but the "philips" on the left is more yellow by a good margin.

So lumen output may be a bit more. They did seem to have a bit more intensity further down the road but not to the point you'd really notice it. It very well may be these are truly 4300k and the cnlight is closer to 5000k, but I definitely prefer the cnlight.

The color difference between my morimoto fogs and these makes these look like halogens. Really flipping bright halogens.

Installed my kit with philips bulbs, which are unbranded like others are stating. That's the first thing I looked for when I took everything out of the box. The color pretty much looks like they match the drl's. So are they really "Philips" bulbs? I think XD has some explaining to do....

I had read that they only make one bulb and the different sizes are really just mounting into different bases which may explain the lack of branding, but I'd also heard fakes are rampant...so I don't know what to think. If they are fakes we got mega screwed at the price we paid. Based on the color and output differences, cnlight is the much better buy.

I too ordered a H11 Xtreme HID kit with 4300K Philips bulbs from Xenon Depot two months ago and there was no branding on my Philips bulbs either. I asked Xenon Depot about it and this was their reply:

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Thanks for reaching out to us.
Philips does not directly make HID bulbs for most after-market halogen fitments, so what we get are genuine Philips D2S HID capsules that are rebased onto custom-moulded halogen fitment bases. The markings identifying them as an original, unmodified Philips product are on the original bases, so we cannot lawfully print ‘Philips’ on the ones we provide.
That being said, there are a few differences between the Philips HID bulbs we sell and our XenonDepot equivalent 4300K bulbs:
    • the trigger wires that connect the HID kit to the vehicle’s factory wiring are black and white on the XD bulbs, while they are black and blue on the Philips ones
    • most of our HID bulbs come with plastic screw top cylinders around the actual bulbs themselves, and our XD bulbs have our XD logo branding on them - the cylinders on the Philips bulbs are clear
    • our Philips bulbs typically come packaged in some bubble wrap with a bubble mailer envelope to hold them in the larger HID kit box - our XD bulbs typically come in a white cardboard box that identifies the type of bulbs inside and has a code to show the colour temperature (ex: 90509 = 5000K bulbs, 90609 = 6500K bulbs, etc)
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

Give the bulbs some time. I think the rebased Philips bulbs are supposed to color shift to around 4700k after a certain amount of burn hours.

    Hi, Guys.

    As Robert mentioned above..

Philips does not make H11 HID bulbs. Original Philips markings can only be found on the original P32d base (which is removed to accommodate the custom moulded H11 base). We would be infringing on Philips' IP if we were to print Philips on our H11 base -- which we do not want to do.

The market is flooded with fakes, so I completely understand your concerns. This has been brought up over the years, so please take a look at some of this thread to help alleviate any concerns/suspicions regarding our products: FYI -- If you see an H11 HID bulb with the word "Philips" on it then I assure you that it was not put there by Philips.

Color Shift: Take a look at this thread as this review does a really great job comparing color output and even color shift:

    http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/3...ndepot-xtreme-hid-kit-review-5000k-4300k.html

    Hope this helps,

    Steve
