I spent the winter in AZ and while I was out there, decided to buy the Tacoma. Well, it came time to head back east and last Thursday, started the trip. Left Phoenix around 7:30am and the first stop was to hit Moab, UT. I took my time and made a few stops, making this leg a 7 hour drive.

Headin' north! Going through Flagstaff area and continuing on.
    DSC01253_50d96f5029e65a3a9fce29f173d3e684452c0c6d.jpg

I thought this was pretty cool.
    DSC01264_216bccff1f30fbf7fd3841c851cf2c4c2ebfb786.jpg

Passed some really big pieces of rock!
    DSC01291_3a8b6b186f1ce7861538425eeb54256ba585fb38.jpg

And some REALLY cool ones! This was Mexican Hat Rock:
    DSC01310_a1e67d3b1a7ad5e62da6cc7147b4dc8e6ad5aeec.jpg

Then started to get in to UT.

Heres "Wilson Arch" on the way to Moab.
    DSC01332_fffa1ec4f106583cb65bfc140675e5a08c82972d.jpg

Got in to Moab, checked in to the hotel and ran out to see Arches Nat'l Park for a couple hours before the rain/snow hit and it got dark.

    At the base of Arches.

    Here's "Balanced Rock"
    DSC01367_cd5218789b4293e5b7769a388fb537caf46320ad.jpg

And I got out of the truck and hiked/jogged up to "Delicate Arch".

This place in general was pretty amazing. The size of the park is awesome. Definitely a little humbling, as I stood there and realized just how small I was in the whole scheme of things!

From here, I moved on to Steamboat Springs. My buddy flew out here and we spent the weekend snowboarding. Friday was an awesome day w/ us getting dumped on w/ some snow. Rest of the weekend was great weather and some fresh snow for Saturday.

And this was as we were exiting Medicine Bow and Routte National Park.

We were now on our way to Omaha!
Started taking less and less pics at this point. For two reasons... 1. scenery became less and less exciting. 2. I started to get tired of taking the pics.

This was the coolest pic as we drove through NE. (If you've driven through NE, you'd understand why this was the coolest pic I got)
Some random house fire or something. It was weird. This place seemed to be burning, but in the median, there was a fire truck and an SUV that seemed pretty banged up. No idea if they were related, but if they were, I'd love to know how and what happened.
    DSC01504_ce4a4d7ac8b37a21049ae0ea4753a2a2580039c1.jpg

We hung out and ate/drank at the Twisted Fork. We were the only 2 people in there, so just talked w/ the 2 bartenders. Good time! I wish I could remember the local brew I was drinking. It was pretty damn good. Began w/ an "S" iirc. May have had a number 51 or 91 in there too.

Oh yea, we stayed in a pretty chill hotel too :D

Monday came and it was time to hit the road again. This time we were headed to Indianapolis. Did a REAL quick tour. Saw the speedway, some random monument, pacers arena and the colts stadium. Then had a quick bite at hooters and drank at the beaver :)

From here, it was time to go home. No exciting pics though. This just goes to show how much cooler the west coast is compared to the east, lol.

And thankfully, we're having torrential rains here! Its washing the truck for me :D

Me too! Great pics Chris(NJ)! How many days did you take to do this? Did you track your overall miles driven & MPG?

    Noted! Thanks :)

You definitely should! Especially if you can take your time and really experience the different areas. We have some beautiful areas in this country that should be seen :)

Thanks! Yep, I tried to track everything. $ on fuel, $ on hotels, MPGs, etc. Anyway, MPGs per tank ranged from 16.7 to 19.8! The variance comes from the different areas that I drove through. ie: mountainous/winding, to flat and straight. that, paired w/ the difference in fuel maybe? (85/87/89 and mfg).
Miles driven on the whole trip came in at 2889. Well, that was to my friends house. Then I had to drive a little more home, but I forgot to look when I got to my place. So maybe about 2950 +/-.
I still need to add up the fuel receipts, but it took a total of 9 fillups, not including my inintial 3/4's that I left with. (so maybe ~375.00) 10 if you include the last one so that it could sit in the driveway w/ a full tank once home.

I lived in Az for 42 years and after moving to Oklahoma I realized how much I took the scenery and landscape in Az for granted. Would love to do a road trip like that!
