okay i was confused, i associate the 4th with the weekend before it, like one long weekend. okay well I'm working on getting time off, i'll most likely have to work remote the 3rd(monday) so i'll have to be somewhere with decent cell service. So probably still can't make this trip :(

Haha yeah we'll see. Mike and I were considering renting a big cabin or something and inviting some people. I just need service on Monday, otherwise yeah we'd be in the sierras with you guys. Its gonna be crazy busy up near Yosemite though

FYI - radio reporting several creeks will hit flood stage during the next two weeks. Snow 1-2 inches in higher elevations this weekend. One campground and road closed just west of Bishop. Highs hitting 100 late next week. Been pretty windy as usual in the valley.
Been fun, heading to the hot spring for next two days.

Any idea on camping locations and if we'll be moving around a lot?

Still working on it haha. Paging @bigbarlo for campsite assistance.

Steve, id say we're probably only going to move locations once though

I believe this is for the weekend before July 4th, right? Are you planning to camp on Friday night, or are you heading up on Saturday. I am planning to go up on Friday and return home on Sunday or Monday. I think it would be great to move campsites as minimally as possible.

Head up Friday night. I wanted to explore a bit so moving once wouldn't be too bad.

Just went on back to back weekend trips to Bishop and June lake.... to state the obvious, there is a ton of water everywhere.. this makes for beautiful waterfalls and stuff but also means a lot of the shoreline fishing holes are underwater... i went up thursday afternoon and did not get a campsite... a lot of the campgrounds have gone to online reservations through https://www.reserveamerica.com/ but dont be discouraged.. there are plenty of walk up campsites.. you just have to grab one before they fill up... I ended up at boulder lodge in june lake... very good prices and after a few beers the bed is comfortable..

    for you fishermen/fisherwomen

Lake sabrina: reservoior is in fill mode.. fishing was great.. daughter caught a 2.25# rainbow.. 20 min from bishop, worth the trip. http://www.lakesabrinaboatlanding.com/default.html

Grant lake: full of water... running over the spillway.. backside acess only from 395.. you can find nice shoreline acess from the back side.. tried 4 spots no joy... beer tasted pretty good though

Silver lake: full of water.. most popular spots are underwater... get a boat only 50 bucks for a day.... i tried shoreline near the inlet.. no joy.. beer tasted awesome in the shade of the aspens...

Lundy lake: water is rising... a lot of talk about catching fish... we went to the boat launch area because of wind.. beer was very good there too... great views and overall nice place... lots of open camsites here near the creek

June lake: fishing was good.. we went to the boulder lodge boat dock late evening and caught a few... less time for beer when the fish are biting...

If you need any directions or whatever pm me... happy to help.. I will be back up in the bishop area june 29th.. through the 4th... keough hot springs campground...

If you are looking for a great central camp that can accomadate a group call Brown's Town Benton crossing... http://www.brownscampgrounds.com/owens.html. Give them a call, great camp hosts... maybe your best shot for getting camp spots next to eachother.

Thanks for the updates Anthony! Now you and your 4 runner get outta here!

I was talking to my buddy earlier this week. He invited me to go up with him and his friends the 22-27th but he said they called and said the back roads they usually take are closed. Lots of meltage. Crazy!
