Is VDO even in business anymore?

Morning yo!

Nice.... $30, you got off cheap. I got my boat hooked on the truck at work right now. Ready for a wet ride out to camp tonight. I had to pick a remote site that is 10 miles down the lake. Might be wet when I arrive!

 

I've got a VDO tachometer in the '84 that I installed a couple of years ago.
But, I bought it on ebay so it may have been NOS.

 

We just had a power surge at work... Long enough to alarm out all 3 of my machines, thankfully one was off the part and the one that was cutting was on the changer mill. I wouldn't want the machine to stop with a face mill cutting

 

Can you be more specific?
My craftsman rollaways are also from the 70's, my skill (worm drive) is one of the first plastic handled say ...70's again

Yeah, I definitely can't complain about the price. The company I bought them from shipped me the wrong ones the first time, though. I opened the package up and knew it was wrong right away; the floats in the kit they sent me were as big as my whole carburetor, haha! They got it right the second time, though, and didn't charge me for return shipping or anything for their mistake (I've bought from companies before that are like that). So I guess I can't complain.

Unlike you, since you're taking a wet ride. Hopefully it's a calm wet ride, at least. Sucks when it's raining AND choppy.

I've got a skill worm-drive saw of that vintage. Sucker is LOUD but it'll cut for as long as you can hold it up.

 

Can't say I've ever gotten to the point where I've maxed out the available grommet space. You should look at coming up from the bottom where the e brake cable is, if I recall, there's more space there.


My morning meeting that I drove all the way tomBoston for got cancelled just as I was parking at 6:15. I grabbed some breakfast and high tailed it back home. Camper is hooked up, now I'm just waiting for everyone else in the house to wake up and get ready!

 

Well, that sucks you drove all the way in for nothing... but good that you booked it right out of there practically, to go back home and get the vaca started.

That's a good news/bad news situation haha. But at least it's 9AM and you're all hooked up to go.

 

The facility that I worked at closed around 2000.

Edit: Siemens Automotive had bought them out in the late 90's. They consolidated plants and moved operations to China and Mexico; hence closing the CT plant.

 

Overall, I'd say a good thing. It was a wasted trip to Boston but I got home and got the truck gassed up and the trailer hooked up before anyone even got out of bed. I just need to finish packing and we'll be on e road hopefully by 10!

 

Do you still have that Hybrid camper with the foldout, Mike? I don't remember if you traded up or not last season...

 

If it was me, I would have already woken up everybody and been like let's go people!

Oh I preach that every day, however she knows I get excited and antsy for trips and she deals with it, especially if I make some breakfast.

 

No, I never had a hybrid. I had a pop up that I sold to Rob when I bought a standard travel trailer. Mine is an 18' solid side, no slide outs camper.

Huh. Who was it on here that had the hybrid?

I was going to ask how leak-proof it was when you towed in the rain. My dad just got a hybrid Coyote and I would think that towing in a hard rain would make it leak around the seals on that front tip-out.
