Easier to decorate without a Phil around. Just make sure those paychecks keep depositing.

Yep. I guess it will become a weekend home for a while. But that's the business I'm in right now. Housing in Louisiana will be paid for. Plus overtime and per diem will be killer.

    Thank you.

I've got to be willing to go anywhere in the world. That's part of my plan to get to the executive level.

Every executive in my company has spent at least 4-10 years working in another country.

Welcome to road dog life lol I love it. I couldn't imagine doing it married with kids tho.

Not to get too personal but do engineers make a ton more than craft workers ? Like I always wondered if y'all make twice as much as us or if y'all make just a few more bucks but y'all get to sit in a office with ac so it makes up for the pay scale? Or do y'all just make bank?

Looking for a few tips-n-tricks here. Not a Tacoma, but one of my son's has a 2003 Silverado that spent too much time up north and has underside corrosion issues. We were pulling the cab mount bolts in order to remove the side steps and one of them snapped off. I am looking for tricks to get it out. We are going to be soaking it with PB blaster, but after that, what might work best to get that headless bitch out now?

A torch could work if you've got one. I think they make a tool specifically for removing broken bolts as well and it may be worth the investment.

I was just curious. Construction is usually super open with the pay scales. Usually we all know what everyone makes basically. Nobody gets butt hurt cause it's all based on skill. So I was just curious as to how much more money there is to make basically.

i think the payoff comes with working less hours in specific situations, sorry to speak in it all depends language but it does. I will compare myself to a steamfitter friend in the DC area. He works a LOT, a LOT, and he makes good money but he works for it. We do pretty close to the same before he hits OT (i dont get OT as an exempt, read salary, employee) but i get a per diem and field service time when i work in the field (when i am working a LOT 12hr days, sometimes more) and i can do comparably, but the amount of days i spend in the field working like that is inherently less. So i think the tradeoff is in the time off, from my limited vision into my situation and my steam fitter friend.

Thanks. I have a propane torch and was considering that, but need to make sure I can remove the body bushings first, otherwise it could get "interesting" :bananadead:.

As for the tools, yes they do, but I was also hoping someone would jump in and give me some input on which one(s) work.

It won't be bad with wife and kids. I'll be setup in an apartment.

    This^^^

For me, I'll be buying food from the grocery store and bring my lunch everyday. All that per diem will be saved.

Oh yeah. And the 401k matching, profit sharing, paid vacation/sick leave, health insurance are all nice perks.

Gah I miss my taco. The seats in the the tundra are not comfy for long road trips at all. The tacomas have such better seats.

Which brings up another point... this may sound fucky but I swear Toyota puts more attention to detail and quality in the tacomas than they do the tundras.
