I had a bull bar on a 2014 4runner. Mounted at two points to the lower part of the frame in the front. 3" tube steel. At 10 - 20 mph I was 4' behind a F-250 that braked hard in the rain. He stopped I didn't. Only pushed the bull bar in about 3" but that was enough to do $5k worth of dealer repaired damage. Snapped all the mounts on both headlights plus a lot of other things. Even buckled the front fenders. Basically, it came into contact (like others have said, to a T) with more parts of the front end than if I had nothing and just would have hit the lower part of the front end with his bumper. Sucked! After the accident I was able to pull it (the bull bar) away from the front end by hand. I thought I was covered.

I am in the market for something for my Sport so I can park and not worry about someone scraping up the plastic on the front. I will not buy anything unless it mounts in more than two places. I love the look of the front of my truck though so its very hard to decide. I definitely want something that looks like it was made fro the truck and follows the lines as closely as possible.

Does that SSO Slimline require the removal of the lower part of the bumper? I don't care about the black shroud below that. What kind of group buy price are we talking about? I might be interested. I definitely need the parking sensor option. No winch. I don't off road. Light bars are cool but not needed either.

I like the prerunner look of the Avid too! I want less than more, but also want as much "real" protection as I can get for the money.

It looks like an over the top bull bar. In a real accident i can see this causing more damage than a deer body by itself. If I had the funds I would buy a real bumper. C4, CBI offroad, Mobtown, Relentless, Ect. Sure it adds more weight but it mounts in so many places that the deer would go flying and the bumper would stand strong. This thing would just push into your front end because it's held on by 4 little bolts.

Good for shopping cart defense, but a little 30 lb bambi at 35mph would destroy that bull bar tube.

I'm more worried about knuckleheads at the mall than deer anyway. Any word on that group buy price of the SSO Slimeline? I was on their site for a couple hours last night. I really like that bumper. Just don't need all the bells and whistles.

I also found a site, CBI, and they have some nice stuff too. I really like this push bar. Again, my main concern is just keeping people from backing or front nudging into me in parking lots.
