AZ BS Thread 4²0

Hey all! Just popping in for a visit... I'll be heading to Payson/Sedona July 1-4th and was hoping to get some insight on dispersed/free campsites in that area. Any input is appreciated!
Was thinking Oak Creek off 89A, or maybe Schnebly hill camp site?

 

For near Sedona of schnebly hill would be good, or head up to anywhere in flagstaff as it'll be a smidge cooler up here. Don't camp on 89A unless you want to camp with 1000 other people. Then for closer to Payson you can go off of rim road somewhere.

 

cool thanks, yeah Id like to find a site with a nice view...I've been to schnebly hill before and its beautiful there. I'll pass on Oak creek then, i'd rather get away from people haha.

Talk to @mh.meier He lives in flag and knows awesome sites there. As for Payson i would say knoll lake is a little north and is nice. Unfortunately fire restrictions are in place so no fires in dispersed camp spots only in camp grounds with rings

Yep damn fire restrictions started yesterday. Sucks cause I'm camping this weekend for a buddies bday and can't have one. Guess we'll have to just instead

 

Hoping to see him when I head up later to camp. I go pretty far out past snowbowl. Seldom are there people around in that area and it's a beautiful area to camp.

 

Payson area = camp on top of the rim on FR300.

how far out on 180 do you go?
they have the 180 closed somewhere past 180 for a fire

 

You can do a propane fire ring. Just have to clear brush and has to be able to turn off and on.
