Daily driving no noise, off roading I can hear the bypass shatter but it's not a big deal. Like others have said, a full cage amplifies the noise everywhere.

Yup! Excited to go race this weekend and make race truck noises in my pop's Geiser.

For those of you guys on here who welded spring perches and shock tabs to their 2nd Gen OEM axle, anyone know how thick the axle is? Looking for a direction on where to set my machine at.

I'd concentrate your heat on the perch. You don't want to blow a hole in it. I'm sure it's happened to a lot of us when we were learning. It sucks. Treat it like its 3/16. I couldn't tell you an exact setting. I really don't change my settings on my welders until I'm up around 3/8" everything 14ga-5/16 is the same settings. Only thing I change is the speed at which I move my torch. On the plus side it's super easy to make shock mounts and spring perch welds look really nice.

Thanks J. Was hoping you'd respond. I definitely don't want to blow a hole in my axle... Gonna get things tacked and welded up this weekend so we'll see how it goes.
You move fairly fast with your travel speed on the axle?

I really need to learn how to do pretty MIG welds and learn how to TIG. I can't dial the settings down on the MIG, I'll have either too much heat or too much wire. It's a Miller 210 but I'm sure that has nothing to do with it.

As stupid as this may sound, I was having a hard time with my settings too, then The dude from SMP fab shared his settings on instagram. So I throes his settings, and that got me super close to good haha. Obviously it depends on material thickness but I've been using that as a baseline and going up and down from there. It helped just to get a ball park

    That's what I have, usually run 3/48-53ish on 1/8-3/16

It really depends. That's kind of subjective to each person. I may be slower than most, but I'm also running thinner wire. .023 in my smaller welder and .30 in the big machine (once the spool runs out I'll be trying .023 in it as well)

Really? I used to go off the included table but lately have leaned towards 5/50-60. The bead will get fat quick if I move too slow though, what size wire do you use? I got .030"

Those tables are great if you aren't trying to manipulate the puddle and are just trying to lay down some text book welds.

True.... Gonna throw down on the axle perches this weekend so we'll see how it comes out.
