New homes in CA have to be pre-wired for an electric vehicle charging port now. I seem to recall sprinklers being a requirement as well.

Im going to have to replace mine sometime in the future as well, so I asked a buddy of mine (who is an electrician), and he said what they have to do is cut the wires where they are attched to the side of the house before the meter (top circled point). Then they replace everything from the breaker box (meter box included) to that point, then call the electric company to hook it back up from there.

Not my house but figured it would be easier to explain.

Yes it is. My addition just failed mechanical yesterday for no floor insulation under a tile floor..... no fucking clue what the inspector was smoking.

They tried implementing that in my area as well, but the amish have done a lot to slow the progress of things like that. Its still required in multi family buildings like apartments and such and businesses, but that makes sense to me. They've also helped uber a lot with the taxi laws.

I believe mandatory sprinklers in single and two family dwellings was going to be part of IRC 2011, but it was never adopted due to massive amounts of backlash. It will eventually go through.
Meanwhile NEC keepa requiring more and more BS, and that gets pushed through with nary a murmur.

I understand it, but it's annoying when your just adding 4 outlets and one breaker and suddenly you have to do all this extra work and wiring just because.

    More siding progress

A bit of dicking around today with the area that will have the clear cedar 1x6 feature panel

Continuous grain wrapped top and bottom trims applied and flashed , rainscreen drain applied above window as required

Vertical cedar goes in the panel between the windows / continuous trims , our regular charcoal horizontal 1x6 channel will go above and below

    * note OSHA / WCB compliant fall arrest gear for all clamps involved

UGH. I literally danced a jig the day I left that State and moved to the better side of the Potomac. Consequently I sadly left WV and launched myself into the belly of nonsense that is CA. The only good thing is that I'm under a year to flee this madness. It's sad, it's such a cool place but the taxes/politics are over the top (nuff said to avoid the lock).

The Amish won't use most of the fall arrest and hard hat regulations due to their religion. Its scary to see the young guys on rooftops without gear, but OSHA wont touch them because of the amount of lawsuits that have backfired on them in the past.

I have friends in Ohio that yank my chain about how communist the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is ( our vehicles are not rusty death traps... ...they're shiny death traps :D. Plus it doesnt take a vote to get funding for schools and police  ), but its nowhere near as bad as the North Korea like State of California.

So my own house is on hold for a bit, but I bought a trailer for work. And will be trying to figure out my fit out soon.

Yeah. I literally asked him what he meant, I've never seen insulation under tile, did he mean a vapor barrier of some sort? And he told me there has to be insulation under all flooring, and wouldnt tell me how i was supposed to accomplish that. My contractor is pissed.
