Food Smokers and Smoking Tips/Tricks/Techniques

Do you guys clean the grates after the cook or before the next cook on cast iron grates?

 

I clean mine right after I pull the food off while the grate is still hot.

 

I let mine sit out overnight on the deck, that way the dew settles on 'em and softens the crusties left over.

 

I usually clean mine up once it's all cooled down. I'm thinking tomorrow I am going to do a real good cleaning on the whole thing. So when it gets used Sunday it will be all nice and clean looking on the inside.

 

Yes guys I have a Weber/smoker problem

Saw the blue 22" Weber for $40. Barely used. Lady even gave me two small bags of kingsford and half a bottle of lighter fliud. (WTF is a lighter fluid??)

Not included in the picture is my MES

Safe to say I'm grilling/smoking something this weekend

 

Super score on the blue Weber, those things are $150 new.

 

She also gave me a fire pit hahaha

 

Smoked a brisket and pork butt today for my sons 3rd birthday party tomorrow.

 

What do you do/how do you serve the pork butt? Giving my UDS its first real smoke tomorrow. Was thinking getting some pork shoulder. Any other cheap meats I could try out?

 

I use a piece of onion. Knocks off all the crap, and smells good on a hot grate.

 

What did you use to clean it with? Nice find.

Honestly it was maybe used twice so it wasn't too dirty . I used water , soap, cleaning vinegar and some elbow grease

I got up so I can wash the taco before it gets hot. What's up

 

I was awake studying and my dude was asleep and didn't want to wake him to see what temps everything was supposed to be at. But after stalker like abilities, I was able to find it in my texts and some of his comments on here.

He started a couple of briskets and two sausage links for breakfast tacos last night and soon three racks of ribs.
