Have you heard the Mike Sweers interview where he talks about how this would not improve anything? If so, cool ... still will be cool if executed properly.

Lol, Mike Sweers saying things. No one 'round these parts trust him more than they trust an undercooked porkchop.

Welcome OP. Sorry for the weird reception.

It's just that Mikey pork chop Sweers told us all this cool stuff was happening and now we are sad.

I believe he actually said it would increase engine bay temps because of turbulence. The grill was designed and optimized to be the only air inlet.

Do you even have a 3rd gen? Half a liter smaller and has more HP and 1 less ft/lb of torque... When your on it, it goes

I'd be interested in hearing op actually elaborate on what he wants to do/hopes to accomplish. He hasn't responded back yet and everyone else seems to be speculating.

You have to have thick skin to survive around here. If your panties easily get in a bunch you will have a miserable time.

If someone gives you shit, give it back to them and the universe balances out.

From the little that I have learned about fluid dynamics, this makes sense. From my understanding ram air doesn't come into effect until your over 220mph.

Hey, I resemble 50% of 80% of your post.

Anything you do to the hood is considered dirty horse power, meaning the aerodynamic offset > power gain. Cowl induction can work if designed properly because the cowl area has positive pressure, where the top and front of the hood are low pressure. It's all for looks unless your running a funny car, but visibility would be kind of rough on a Tacoma.

Crap. I should have gone to hood scoop college. Now I guess I'll just have to sit back and watch others argue whether or not it would make a difference. Which it won't. Not on my truck.

what I will be working on is to make a kit that will make the factory hood scoop tunnel air into the airbox. Make it functional atleast for now. Until there is a proper way to tune our engines we wont get much benefit from cold air intakes, this kit I am making or anything in the market yet. But when we get the proper tuning then this will for sure be a benefit. The link a memeber posted about an after market hood with the hood scoop is similar just that I will make a kit to use the existing hood.

How will it be a benefit? Your truck already has a cold air intake.
