I searched before I get flamed. I'm looking to see how I can tell what differential comes on what models. Mine in particular. I have a 2006 4wd SR5 Double cab. No TRD anything. I was looking at the how to change your rear diff fluid sticky and saw that the OP's had a big LSD sticker on it. But if this sticker falls off, how else could you tell if you have a LSD?

I don't think there's a clear way to tell. Both the 'regular' and the LSD pumpkins are specimens of the so-called '8.4' Toyota differential. The differences are all internal.

In 2006 the 'real' (mechanical) LSD's were factory stock only on X-Runners. They were bundled with the optional TRD Sport Package (V6's only). They were also available as a standalone option on V6 6-lug Access Cabs and Double Cabs.

No ... Toyota VIN's don't designate accessories, packages, or options.

However, I believe the dealership can access a sales sheet for a particular VIN, and this sales sheet should list options.

I just got off my lazy butt and crawled under the rear of the truck to find a LSD sticker on my diff. Considering that mine is definitely not an X-Runner and no kind of TRD...sport or off road; the dealer must have ordered it as an option then.

Seat Belt Chime Mod, Flowmaster 50 series dual exhaust, Debadged tailgate, TRD Decals, HID hi/low + fogs.
I was wondering this myself. I have a TRD sport for the LSD because I go to the snow a lot however I swapped out all my TRD parts so it seems like the TRD sport package is a pointless purchase if the sr5 4x4 has a LSD too.

Might he have a debadged SR5 and actually a TRD model?

It'd have to be WAY stripped down. It's got the regular shocks and no skid plate as well. No electric locker for the rear diff too.

I re-read your original post. Unfortunately, my answer didn't address your original question. The quest continues.

found some interesting info on toyota diffs.
i know this doesnt really help you any, but for anyone that has swapped in a factory e-locker, there is a fairly simple wiring diagram to wire it up on the bottom of the page. http://home.4x4wire.com/erik/diffs/
