I don't know I'm just trying to take the guy's mind off the fact that some one may have died from lead poisoning in his truck.

    I'm a guyette. ;)

This doesn't actually bother me. Whatever happened in the truck... happened.

I suppose a pet is plausable, but it seems like an odd place to put an animal large enough to bleed that much.

Jesus Christ this is so unsettling. The mystery of what happened in this truck really bothers me. I'm glad you're not bothered by it, but the possibility that something really really bad happened in there is crazy. If you really want to see the extent of the blood splatter/organic liquid splatter, buy some Luminol and make a spray and hit the entire interior of the truck with it in a pitch black garage. Shine a UV light on it and you'll see everything organic. It's what they use at crime scenes for forensics.

    For example:

    image003.jpg luminol_in_corridor.jpg

That's all blood. But you wouldn't see it without the Luminol.

If I were you I would rip the entire interior of that car apart and check with either Luminol or a UV light. The carpet and padding is toast I'd replace that asap. Just letting you know now the 4Runner seats are not directly bolt on, it'll take some modification to get it to fit.

If you do tear the carpet out please please please wear a respirator (not a dust mask) and maybe even one of painting suits. Who knows what really happened in that truck.

You guys are so cute. Is there matching spatter all over the interior? Head shots spray everywhere, think a thumb over a garden hose kind of spray. You would also have a matching stain on the carpet beneath the back of the seat. It would also stink in there, and not just a little. If it was a fatal that occurred inside a vehicle odds are it would never go to auction and if it did they wouldn't bother cleaning it. You bought a nasty truck, but it's a fun story.

Does it smell coppery? Had to drive a shot up Humvee in Iraq that had a lot of blood in it.
Never could get the smell out after it was repaired.

I'd just pull all the seats out and give it a good cleaning as it is a bio-hazard.

The smell of blood always reminded me of that smell on your hands after digging for some change.

Blood or not that's still a huge biohazard and I'd take great care in cleaning and replacing affected parts.

I dunno what it is, obviously. I've been trying to figure out what the fuck else you could spill in such large quantities *up* your seat. It's blood or a massive shart or a grave big gulps slushee with ejaculate in it.

Also: we've already spent at least 20 hours in the cab of this truck with the windows up. I think if it was going to have made us violently illl it would have by now. It doesn't smell like anything. I think it sat in the Arizona sun for years.

Unless it's chocolate milk, dried paint, pretty much a bazillion things it's more likely to be than blood. There's no way to spill up the seat, easy for it to be a splash though.

Op is replacing the seats, regardless of what it it's a non issue with 4 nuts/bolts being removed.

    I'm going with:
-did not make it to the hospital and child was born in Tacoma!

See a happy story! And lots of blood/fluids.

    :gossip:Pic is from passenger seat.

Drivers seat was ripped to shreds. No guesses about that one.

So as far as the headliner goes there are some smudges of something up there, but it's not spickled the way you would expect from some high velocity injury.

Also: I've watched enough forensic files to be thinking about luminoling the shit out of this thing. Too bad you can't get that stuff at Walmart. ;)
Nice. Hopefully this truck is featured on an upcoming episode of "I didn't know I was pregnant.
