    Here's a fun one. I bought a new trailer for my boat yesterday and when I hooked it up I noticed the left brake light didn't work. The guy that was selling it to me assured me that all the lights worked when hooked to his truck. Makes sense because on my old trailer the exact same light does not work. I thought it was just the wiring on my old trailer but now with the same issue happening on both trailers its got to be my truck... When I turn my headlights on I get the running lights on both sides. I just don't get a brake light on the driver side. What would be the best place to start looking to try and correct this? I usually just put my boat in the water next to our dock so the trailer rarely sees the road but Im towing it to SC in august so I need to figure it out before then.

    Factory trailer plug ? Or add on aftermarket ?
    It's. it uncommon for the spades inside the 7 pin to corrode, OEM or aftermarket I'd check the socket side then follow the wiring back. The rest of the lighting works, so you have ground at least.

    @Blkvoodoo is right.
    I'd only add that
    • if you don't have a factory connection then the signal is often 3M taped into the turn signal wiring which can corrode and fail easily.
    • If you do have a factory connection the connector and cabling is susceptible to damage when offroading. Look at the wire harness behind the connector for that.
    • If a trailer brake circuit has been added, the harness is often tapped. You may want to double check that none of the other wires are damaged.
    • This looks really cool and may be small insurance for when you hook up.

    Factory Trailer plug and Ive got one of those Amazon 7-pin converters Could be from wheeling last summer at URE I did bend it pretty good @HrBrad8 had a good view of it reversing down a hill That was pre-lift ... but I seem to remember all my trailer lights working after that

    I have a hole saw, we can sink a hole in the rear bumper between tag and left tag light. No worries anymore. One of the first things I did to my POS.
    Can even reuse the bolts from the bracket. Zero cost other than the ride, maybe beer...

    Nice I wanted to do that mod but do not have the tools to accomplish. Maybe one of these weekends I dont go fishing we can get together beers on me. Wanna hear some crazy shit @Blkvoodoo ? Did both wheel bearings on my truck with you and tims help. My girlfriends passenger rear wheel bearing went out 2 weeks later on her civic managed to do it in my dads garage. I just replaced both wheel bearings for peace of mind on this trailer I bought last night ... 5 in about 5 weeks time

    Old Toyotas should be cleaned after a muddy day;
    Rage, rage against the dying of their might.

    Though wise mechanics at their shift's end know wrong from right,
    Because their hands had lifted body from frame they
    do not go gentle or without fight.

    Good trucks, the last long driven by, with memories of once bright
