Seat belt warning light on dash? Is there a connection to connect it to on the seat or the floor. Plug it in and find out.

that's the driver's seat sensor for the airbag. It must be plugged, because if not, your airbag/srs light will be on (or flashing)

I don't think the first gen had a seat airbag if it was an airbag the connector would be yellow

yes, plugged to the cable goes into the seat or into the floor, depending on which one is shown in the picture

and it's very very strange it does not cause your airbag light to be on..... unless it is a cable for something else... but I doubt it...

1st gens didn't have seat airbags, but they had some kind of weight sensor in the driver's seat, telling the computer when someone was sitting there.

It's not yellow, for some reason

    here's mine (2000):

ah, makes sense it's for the seatbelt. Tells the computer if the driver is buckled up or not, and if not, it will chime. The weight sensor thing is for the passenger side, I think....

would explain why the connector is not yellow, as it is not part of the airbag/srs system, even though it is related to it

anyway, maybe it was unplugged because the previous owner didn't want to hear it ? but still, it would cause a light to turn on (srs or seatbelt) if it's unplugged... unless it was bypassed?

Unplugged light will not come on. It completes the circuit when plugged in and seat belt not buckled.

as others mentioned, it's for the seat belt warning light on the dash. this may complete a circuit for the airbag to deploy if in an accident (otherwise if not buckled in it shouldn't deploy).

the passenger side of single/ext cab is a on/off switch on the dash. DC I'm not sure but may have it's own seat belt sensor. I doubt first gens had weight sensors, think that only came in on Gen 2 at some point but I could be uninformed.

I just worked on replacing seat belt buckle in split bench seat. The wire from the bucle is close to right rail and the plug looks different from the one on your picture. It looks exactly like a plug on picture shown by @onakat. But mine is 95 so maybe they changed the plug.
