Order 1227 delivered and installed today. I put mine under the Qi charger pad, didn't take long to install. I drove a route that has 25, 35, 45, 55, and 65 mph limits. It shifted a lot better. I like that I can see what gear I'm in. Great product! Works great!

@dcz108 - silly question but this will also work on 4-cylinder Tacos, correct?

Also will all new orders include the updated chip?

    a bunch of mods

It is currently only available for the 3.5L V6 models. We have received several inquiries about expanding it to the 4-cylinder models and we are planning to offer that in the near future.

And yes, all new orders contain the latest programming,

With the new programming I absolutely love it. Even my wife notices the lack of indecision by the transmission. I highly recommend it.

Sad to hear but cool to know a 4-cylinder version is in the works. I'll volunteer as tribute if you need any 4-cylinder testers.

If no need for testers, feel free to put me on the wait list for a module when they are released.

    Thanks!

I just got 21 mpgs on my last tank. Lots of city driving and bumper to bumper mixed with some highway.

I also got 23+ mpg on the way back from my folks place. Typically I'd get 19-19.5.

I've never gotten gas mileage like this. I'd always hover around 18-18.5 per tank. There are probably more variables impacting this that I'm not considering, but this just started with my last two SSP tanks.

I don't worry a out mpgs too much and said that I could live with a <2 mpg loss as long as my truck kept shifting properly. It appears I've gotten a 2 mpg GAIN with this. I guess time will tell.

This makes me wonder wtf Toyota is doing!? How did they miss this mark so bad? A single smart guy out matched an entire engineering team that has presumably been doing this for years. I figured they neutered the shifting for economy purposes. Maybe they just don't know wtf they are doing.

Now that we've got the tranny under control (love the SSP)......how to deal with that 3.5L box of marbles under the hood. With the higher (and appropriate) shift points the engine noise is far more noticable now. Only if the OP could fix that too. :amen:

Maybe I should have started a separate tread for this subject as I'm sure there are a few of them already though. Yeah, so, pretty noticeable. I'm now measuring the firewall (inside and out) for Dynamat since it's very aggravating and disappointing. 3K miles and it's been like that from new. All I've read and heard is that it's normal. For a V6 to sound like a diesel is heartbreaking at the very least. When she goes in for her 5K endoscopy I'll be asking MANY questions at the dealership. Stopped in at another one a few weeks back and they said the same thing. Normal! Conspiracy! Noisy injectors. Blah!

But you're saying it's much more noticeable after installing the SPP? Were you
mainly staying out of the upper range RPM wise and not noticing the sound? I have
an aftermarket CAI (aFe) and I keep the cover off the front JUST to hear the sound :D

Every Toyota I've had sounded like a diesel. Taco, 4runner and LC. Tight engine tollerances

Yes sir exactly. When she'd up-shift sooner than desired, the noise went with it. But now, when she's in the power-band it's more noticeable. CAI sound is lovely compared to what I'm hearing and would like that much better. Then again that would most likely drown out the death rattle! :annoyed:

Got my ssp on Saturday (order 1231). I have driven for a total of 50 miles, unloaded and loaded with a dirtbike. The truck should have come like this from the factory! Shifts exactly where I want it to. I was really thinking it was going to hold shifts for too long reading some of the reviews but in my opinion it is spot on. I thought the "reducing shifting 60%-75%" seemed pretty ridiculous but I would have to agree, it really reduces a ton of unnecessary shifting. Great product OP. Also glad to hear that mine isn't the only one that sounds like a diesel, I usually never notice with the radio turned up but with it down it is noticeable.

I received and installed mine today. Didn't get to drive it much but initial impressions are great around town 45mph or less. I'll let you know more once I can get it out on the interstate. Only negative for me was I couldn't get it to stick to the plastic console even though I scrubbed it with rubbing alcohol. I'll figure something out though so no big deal.

Mine should be in any day, I'm putting it under there somewhere where the
wiring is, I have no need to have it out stuck to something. A few have gotten
it up under where the Qi charger is, that's my plan.

Go grab some 3m velcro stickies at Walmart , Target, any hobby store. Stick the non fuzzy Velcro part to the SSP and stick it to the carpet.
